Hugely satisfying Indian cuisine in JB!
Its been a while since the last time I had a good Indian dining experience. That, or I have not explored enough in Klang Valley. Thinking back, part of the reason was because the kids were not opened to the idea of eating Indian food. Given the chance, they would opt for Japanese, Italian, but not Indian.
While in JB, I came across this restaurant located in Bukit Indah which was quite near where I was staying. I made reservation, drove all the way there without telling them what we were eating before that. What I didn't expect was the restaurant looked very nice, the assistant manager Harish who attended to us was helpful in recommending the dishes and the overall dining atmosphere.
◾Dry Cauliflower Manchurian RM24 - marinated cauliflower, fried and tossed with chopped onions, ginger, green chilly and fresh coriander leaves with sweet soya sauce. This dish reminded me of Chinese Kung Pou dish.. crispy and flavourful. Gone in less than 3 minutes. ◾Kebab Platter RM49 - an assortment of kebabs consisting of fish, chicken, lamb and prawns with various types of seasoning. Most of the meats were rather spicy (but delicious and well-cooked) so make sure you tell your preference. ◾Punjabi Chicken Butter Masala RM28 - chicken tikka cooked in fenugreek leaves and tomato gravy. The highlight of the three chicken dishes.. creamy but not too jelak, the beautiful aroma of butter and tomato sauce combined together made a perfect pairing with the naan ◾Chicken Chettinad RM27 - boneless chicken cooked with cashew nuts, grated fresh coconut and spicy house gravy. This dish made me think of dhal, only better... ◾Rajasthani Lal Murgh RM27 - boneless chicken cooked in red spicy North Indian gravy. My least favourite but quite good tasting. ◾Hyderabadi chicken biryani RM36 - chicken tikka and basmati rice cooked together with mint leaves and Indian spices. Brought over to the table covered with a piece of dough and opened on the spot before mixinf everything together. Probably one of the best biryani I'd tasted so far. ◾SP Special Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani RM44 - boneless chunks of lamb with gravy cooked together with basmati rice, mint leaves and garnished with fried onions. Alternative to chicken if you don't want poultry. ◾Plain naan and garlic naan RM8-10 ... If you ask me, I felt that these items were overpriced for 3 pieces of naan. But the flavour-wise no doubt it was very good.
Luckily I brought a bottle of white wine to pair with the spicy dishes, as it proved to be a better choice compared to red. We had so much good time there that we went back for the second time on the last...
Read moreFirst time wanted to have an Indian meal at Bukit Indah hence I googled. I used to go to a similar restaurant near danga bay to have exclusive indian meal . Since I was in Bukit Indah, hence I wanted to try this restaurant as per Google suggestion. Came to this spot and literally was shocked with the price list. The food was nice and the waitress was really good (I don't know her name but she was so gentle) but I believe you can get variety of scrumptious meal in other well known restaurants in JB with reasonable price. My biggest doubt is why this restaurant offers member and non-member price? Eg: a small dish costs RM24 for non-members meanwhile 50% discounted price for members. Personally after been to many restaurants, I do feel that the discounted price is the original price. May I know the reason why are you charging twice of the price for non-members? There will be definitely other people in the same boat as mine who wanted to try out this restaurant when they are in the town. I feel it's kinda unfair when you provided members and non-members price range. The ambience is good but I personally feel that there are many other indian exclusive restaurants in JB which offer great ambience and amazing food with reasonable price range. Suggestions: Pls display the menu leaflet & the speciality of being members right at the entrance of your restaurant as how other restaurants display so that the public aware...
Read moreHave been member for the past two years and always patronised Marco Polo kitchen because of their great service but this place also being another restaurant under the same group is horrible at its service. In fact the service is becoming from bad to worse! Despite the food being nice here we always debate a lot about cmg here because of the few bad incidents we had dining here! It’s sad that the management isn’t doing anything to improve the service despite many feedbacks given. There is one particular staff that is always getting on my nerves as he doesn’t do anything but slack.( short, skinny bearded Indian dude with so much attitude and arrogance! ) no common courtesy to be attentive to customer wanting to order or even ask for smtg.No greeting when we enter? No warmth, just sitting on the couch and using his phone? Was even given terribly soiled cutleries to use and when I pointed out there wasn’t any remorse. They should really learn from Marco Polo staff. Overall I don’t think this place is gonna strive with this kind of toxic staff. I hope that management take some action and get the boys back on track. If still doesn’t improve will no longer visit. Attaching the hero who lacks every aspect of customer service. Will consider renewal...
