Restaurant Shun Fa Bak Kut Teh — Restaurant in Iskandar Puteri

Popular BKT restaurant in Johor. Not quite the Klang herbal version, but more similar to the SG version without the pepper. While the Bak kut teh is a must try, the seasame oil chicken is to die for.

Starting with the BKT. The soup stock is good, slightly herbal and a bit more sweet then savory, though subtle. Nice pieces of chopped up pork ribs, although i feel the meat could have been boiled longer to be more tender. It's also came with pork liver and extra orders of bean curd skin, golden & butter mushroom. The butter mushroom though i could have done without.

As for the sesame oil chicken it is The Dish, served bubbling hot in a claypot (if only i could have uploaded the video). Cooked in a black sesame oil based sauce with ginger, it is full of flavor and goes well with a bowl of rice.

Next time i will also try the white wine chicken claypot.

Used to frequent this bak kut teh shop, but after the service today we decided not to visit again. Went around 130pm, there were some empty tables. We stood by the counter wanting to order, but the staff ignored us, didn’t tell us to wait, nor seat us down. Waited for a good 5 minutes when suddenly groups of people came, and went to sit at the empty tables, so we were gonna follow suit as there were limited tables left. however, this auntie looked at us and asked if we had ordered. we said no, and she demanded that we order first before sitting, which she only told to us and not the other groups of people who came after us. in this period of time, 5 people were queuing at the counter waiting to order, so we just left bc we didn’t want to waste our time anymore and since there wasn’t...

First time came here to try out Bakuteh, my fav dish. The male waiter was not very welcoming. Took my orders & took too long a time for my food to be served despite restaurant was empty & i was the only customer. It was very disappointing to see the portion that was served in reality was so few in comparison to the picture shown & the ingredients were so miniscule & few. Even the broth was not up to standard.
