Astons Specialities @ Bukit Indah — Restaurant in Johor

Hard margarine was served with baked potatoes, instead of sour cream or cream cheese. From cost point of view we understand sour cream, cream cheese or even butter are much pricier. But from health wise, although margarine are much healthier compared to sour cream, cream cheese and butter, but hard margarine that used taste too artificial and content trans fats that are equivalent to butter saturated fats and its processed.

Steak was cooked to our liking and it’s yummy. Caeser salad and coleslaw were tasty especially the coleslaw, it’s so fresh.

The mushroom soup is a little disappointing, garlic breads on the side became croutons and it’s served on top of the soup. Wings were a little over-cooked, too dry, another disappointment. As for the drink, on the menu it’s a picture of freshly made Ice Lemon Tea with lemon in it like most restaurant or Kopitiam, but when served, a can and a glass of ice on the side was delivered to us 😅.

One star taken from service due to calls not answered. We were worried that reservation needed as we read in the review, a customer were turn away due to no reservation made , but we were relieved, when we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty where we were able to choose our own table to be seated. I didn't anticipate exceptional service, but at least a decent one, when I visited this restaurant for lunch. Upon entering, I waited to be seated, but no staff was in sight. After a few minutes, an Indian lady emerged from the kitchen, muttered something inaudible, and, upon my request, instructed me to find my own seat.

She then handed me the scan code for ordering. Despite a delivery of my americano within 10 minutes, the prime sirloin steak, ordered medium-done, took more than 20 minutes to arrive, despite the restaurant not being crowded.

Observing the staff's busyness, I went to the kitchen counter to get ketchup, only to find the container empty. When I brought this to the attention of the lady in the kitchen, she ignored me entirely.

To add to the inconvenience, the steak was served without napkins. I had to seek out the Indian lady to address this. Fortunately, the food itself lived up to expectations.

Service and atmosphere are nice. Staffs are welcoming and attentive to details. However, my family and I are bit disappointed by the dishes. We expected lot from this restaurant as it was our first time visiting. Side dishes such as garden vegetables, scrambled eggs, sausages, mashed potatoes were flavourless. They lacked some salt and peppers. In my opinion, the garden veges should be sautéed to add some flavour (just my preferance) and more salt and peppers to other side dishes. Furthermore, we also ordered grilled fish with herbs. Sounds delicious but it was a mess. Fish was unappetizing even with the sauce. It was bland and taste just like boiled dory fish. Lastly, the other dishes I ordered were Beef bologness and fried chicken chop. They were a bit average but nothing bad to mention either.
