狮城肉骨茶 Lion City Bak Kut Teh — Restaurant in Johor

Lots of staff changed. Owner same. Coffee disgustingly bad. Noodles was ok. Street dogs kept coming into the restaurant. Terribly noisy with very loud coffee machine, cooking pots n pans cluttering sound, blasting music and staff screaming top of their lungs to talk amidst the chaos. There were just 3 tables of customers hence unsure why so much of chaos and all the screaming including from the owner.

Terrible experience and will never return.

Older review from few months before: Tried the kopi here once as we were waiting to meet some friends. It was surprisingly delicious, especially when this is supped to be predominantly a bakuteh shop. Since then, it has been my regular go to kopitiam place. I always ask for ‘kopi kurang kurang kurang manis and they consistently get it right ( often with a chuckle for our unique order). We often have several cups per visit , in addition to takeaways. Staffs are also very pleasant and service is fast. Never tried the food...

Been here multiple times as it is convenient when we stay AirBnB in Paragon Suites (just across the road) or Hako Hotel (beside this stall).

When we tried the kopi si kosong here a couple of times in mid 2024, we felt it wasn't nice and it was disappointing.

Food-wise, I like the peppery pig stomach most, although the portion is small. Bak kut teh here is the herbal kind. Their fried rice (eg sambal, kampung, yangchow) is cooked with some chicken and topped with a fried egg, and is not bad.

In the pictures are what we had on 14Mar25. For some reason, I was craving more drinks, so we ordered a few to try. The sugarcane drink was the nicest. Kedongdong a little grassy-tasting, soya bean milk with grass jelly ok.

Previously tried sesame chicken and hor fun too, and they are not bad.

Had their noodles (under CJ Teochew Fishball Noodle brand) in 2024 and found them drenched in black sauce and much too salty.

I always go to this restaurant for a lunch and dinner .. then after almost a month today i went there . And ordered the same mee goreng . Surprisingly the mee goreng taste so different and also mee goreng with only egg . Previously remember they will put prawn , chicken . But this time it was only plain mee goreng for the price that they charge last time . Same price but portion sooo small and no meats .. totally disappointed.
