Not bad pasta spot near CIQ (non halal)
Ok we decided to try this highly rated pasta spot, it was unique as they were in a huge container like building.
The staff served us as we entered, they sat us down and ran us through their menu. They serve everything Italian from risotto, to pizza, to tiramisu. We had a hard time deciding. They also had the typical potato dumplings that's one of their highlighted mains. They got us serving plates and serviettes and took our orders rather quickly. Food came after 10 mins on a packed Saturday. They don't serve tap.
Entree was their delicious homemade mushroom soup which they claim is freshly made everyday. Really yummy and delicious, seriously recommended. Though I prefer more mushrooms in the soup to give it volume, this had more of a creamy, watery consistency.
One of their most highlighted mains were seafood pasta which you can customise the sauce base: cream, tomato or marinara. The seafood was very fresh, prawns were peeled for you and overall it had great flavour. But the sauce was too diluted and it did not stick to the pasta. The seafood was prawn, squid, clams and mussles. Pasta was al dante though. For 40RM, its average.
Moving on to another common Pasta dish: Spaghetti Carbonara. It's a cream concoction of smoked duck, cream, cheese and an egg yolk. You can choose the other 2 meat options like chicken or bacon, other from duck. I'd say this was poor, pasta tasted only of the cream and barely any hint of the parmesan cheese. Also Carbonara doesn't have cream (it's egg yolk and cheese only) so this meal was going down hill. Portioning was not very huge either and this came at 18.90RM. Below satisfactory.
I'd say the Italian food here is not very authentic but if you're looking for a cheap restaurant option, this could be it. They accept cards and...

We visited this wonderful Italian restaurant Aglios to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and I can confidently say it was the best Italian dining experience I’ve had in the past 10 years.
From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance was cozy and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a special evening. The service was impeccable—especially the lovely lady from the service crew who attended to us with such warmth, genuine smiles, and thoughtful recommendations. She made our evening feel extra special.
Now, the food—absolutely divine.
We started with the mushroom soup, and it completely stole the show. Creamy, rich, and bursting with earthy umami flavors, it was comfort in a bowl. Paired with the perfectly toasted garlic bread, each bite was pure heaven. I never thought I could be so moved by soup, but this was unforgettable.
For mains, we had the prawn aglio-olio and squid aglio-olio. Both were cooked to perfection. The prawns were plump, juicy, and laced with just the right amount of garlic and chili heat. The squid was tender and flavorful, with a smoky hint that elevated the entire dish. The pasta was al dente and coated in a beautifully balanced olive oil base that made every forkful a delight.
And finally, dessert. Oh my. The tiramisu burnt cheesecake was an absolute masterpiece—rich and creamy with that signature tiramisu coffee kick, yet with the caramelized edge of a burnt cheesecake. It was indulgent without being too heavy, and the perfect ending to an already spectacular meal.
We came with not much expectation but left with full hearts, happy tummies, and a promise to return. Thank you for making my husband’s birthday so memorable. Kudos to the whole team of Aglios. Highly, highly...
Read moreWas around the Jalan Trus area, attracted by the interesting glass container facade of the restaurant and decided to pop in for a quick lunch. The waitress was polite and took our orders promptly. Ordered spaghetti dishes, the alla carbonara and prawn aglio olio. Substituted the duck slices (not a fan) in the carbonara for chicken ham. The cream base (purist Italians will be screaming) in the carbonara was decadent, and even with the chicken ham, the overall dish was nice, topped with a raw egg yolk to mix, i.e. alla carbonara. The prawn aglio olio was surprisingly very flavorful, considering that the base ingredient for aglio olio is mainly just garlic. The garlic as well as the prawn portions are definitely generous, however what made the flavor ticked was that the spaghetti is just splendidly coated with, if I'm to guess, a quality prawn broth/stock. For those undecided, the prawn aglio olio is one to try. Our spaghetti dishes had a local touch to it by adding chilli padi (bird's eye chilli) to make it more pedas (spicy). Fyi for the Muslim diners, restaurant has no Halal certification but Muslim waiter when asked, mentions that the ingredients are from Halal sources. Ambience of the restaurant is also nice, definitely better at night with the lighting turned on. Overall, a great place to dine, with quality spaghetti dishes. Definitely...
