Apparently this place is supposed to offer value for money sashimi and the like, but I don't generally consume uncooked cuisine.

Anyway tried their "highly recommended" (by their staff) Teriyaki Chicken ala carte & converted it into a set. Initially wanted to try the beef Teriyaki but it's not available.

So do check before you sit down and settle in. Do expect to wait for your food, I say some small families/groups leaving due to the potential wait time. The place has manpower issues, no doubt

Portion was generous but it was an ala carte plate, maybe enough for 2 people, but tasted more like a soy based sauce than Teriyaki to me.

Then when it came to payment, was suddenly told there was a minimum charge for Touch n' Go or card payment. Which was not communicated to me when I confirmed with the staff before ordering about methods of payment.

Boss finally comes over, with a sour face, between his body language and tone, makes it sound like I'd trying to pull a fast one on them. Finally took card payment , even if I'd initially said I'm paying by Touch n'go, leaving me with a feeling like he was hard done by me or something.

Choose carefully if you're looking for a reasonable place to try some Japanese style food, given the above points....

Overall the food is amazing. But the waitress stopped us from ordering more food…. We wanted to order more like Karaage, etc. She stopped us from ordering. We also wanted sake with our food but they do not serve alcohol… for a Japanese restaurant this is the first where I have experienced no sake or even nama beeru. I've lived in Tokyo for years so this was shocking to me. Definitely not an izakaya. We ended up taking away as we did not think food was enough as the waitress stopped us to order more… we ended up ordering some more food at another place nearby to take away. Owner is super nice. It will take him about thirty minutes to make the food. Food is amazing, you can see he puts a lot of effort into it. But I believe if they added a sake or beer menu they would be more popular. And with more staff. Other than us there was a family of four at the time. Can you imagine how long it will take if there were seven big groups there? I still don't get why they put so many tables there when the place is severely understaffed. I just think the waitress stopped us from ordering more as it will take an immense amount of time for the chef to prepare food. Waitress does not speak much...

Food portions are very generous & super value for money! Sashimi ultimately fresh. Super big and thick pieces. Value for money! Sushi rolls are soft and surprisingly tasty. Crispy. No need dip soy sauce at all. Unagi is freshly soft and completely no fishy taste, sauce is delicious. Bento set worth to order - comes with miso soup really taste damn good.

Not sure how authentic it is, but definitely the quality taste and freshness standard here are amazing to a Japanese standard, despite the looks (lack of life) of this restaurant and menu portray at first sight.

Came here because of the good reviews while on a holiday trip at this area and on 2nd thought, judging by how normal the restaurant looks, menu looks dull n normal, only a few people dining during peak lunch hour on weekend, only 1 waitress serving (doesn’t speak & don’t understand english from us), food prepared by only 1 old chef, waiting time for food to be served is long, but after trying out all these food, not a single food disappoint us and the wait is all worth it. Really impressive. Hidden gem to us. My honest review to help...

Came by for lunch, found their lunch set reasonably priced. But we selected their ala carte menu for dine-in and the lunch set for takeaway. Note, portions are generous. If you are unsure whether your order is sufficient, you can always ask the friendly staff. The sashimi is sliced thick which is always an enjoyable way to taste the fish. Fresh fresh. The sushi ordered is prepared with chef's own twist and makes the experience very unique. The yakitori sticks taste very similar to what I experience in Japan restaurant. Flavourful and juicy. Udon soup has strong notes of bonito in the soup. The fried Udon has lots of ingredients to it, 3 prawns, chicken pieces mushrooms... Tip: due to the limited manpower, if you know what you are going to order, make your order in one go to avoid longer waiting.
