I was searching for the perfect spot to celebrate my dad’s birthday and stumbled upon 'The Top Fish House' on social media. Since my dad is a huge fan of sashimi, the glowing reviews about their fresh and affordable sashimi convinced me to make a reservation.

When we arrived, we were the only guests, which at first surprised me—but as someone who enjoys quiet, peaceful ambiances, it honestly felt like heaven. The interior immediately captivated me: seaside-inspired with thoughtful details like coral pieces, stone textures, and even an air humidifier that added to the calming atmosphere. It felt like dining by the shore under soft night lights.

Though the restaurant seems overshadowed by the many popular eateries in Mount Austin, it deserves way more recognition. I imagine it might be busier during the day, but in the evening, it’s the perfect spot for couples or anyone looking for a slow, intimate dining experience.

The service was exceptional. One staff member in particular went above and beyond, always attentive and ready to help without being intrusive. That kind of care made the evening feel even more special.

Now, the food—everything we tried was honestly delicious. I ordered the salmon pasta, and I’d definitely come back just for that. We also had their house special kombucha and the Summer Days drink, which was so refreshing we ended up ordering it three times! My dad was thrilled with the sashimi, and their poke bowl was packed with flavor and freshness. If you're into healthy yet tasty food, this place is a must-visit.

1st time coming to this restaurant and i would say that i'm mighty impressed by the decorations. Very nice and fresh, clean and almost zen. Ambience is very comfortable with plenty of natural lighting from its facade. Shocked that tgey have been around for 3 yrs, yet we didnt know. Bcos they just renovated recently 😅

Here is what we ordered:

Salmon Carbonara Pasta - I have been researching online how to make genuine Italian Carbonara and this was really quite authentic (apart from them using Salmon instead of using Guanciale 😏). The only difference is that they added chopped garlic into the pasta which was quite interesting. the taste was wonderful, but because the sauce made like the authentic Italian way, its not watery but rather can be quite sticky due to the melted cheese. But overall, the use of Salmon and chopped garlic in carbonara did not fail our taste buds. We will return to try their signature Mentaiko Pasta.

Chawamushi was fragrant and delicious. A thumbs up. Not too salty but adequately to our taste which also helped lift the wonderful aroma of the eggs. Silky to the tongue and glides down your throat.

Teriyaki Salmon Don - Kids loved it. Umami, fresh salmon, nicely cooked fluffy rice. But i would prefer the pasta 😁

The have a pretty good variety of foods and drinks. They even have sake highball! Would have preferred just the sake though. I couldn't find any on their menu.

On the other hand, i would believe they have pretty good sashimi, perhaps will try in future, and hopefully by then they would have sake on...

This was our first visit to Top Fish House, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. We discovered this cafe on TikTok, where it was praised for its quality food and reasonable prices. We were thoroughly impressed by the freshness of the sashimi and the delicious flavors of the dishes. The service was excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly. What amazed us the most was how the food maintained such high quality at such an affordable price. The overall vibe of the cafe is perfect for a memorable date with your loved one too. We’ll definitely be returning for more in the future!
