101 古油咖啡乌 Butter Kopi-O-Kosong = RM5.20 350 手工水粿 Chwee Kueh = RM6.90 356 自制煎萝卜糕 Pan-Fried Radish Cake = RM11.90

SST Tax 6% = RM1.44 Service Charge 6% = RM1.44

Although Google Maps reports they open at 9.00am, they only officially open for Business from 9.15am onwards.

Its a Modern Kopitiam. Felt Airy and Cooling. Ordering of Food is thru Pen and Paper. The Staffs are Friendly and keep to themselves and they will take away your Plates once you're done eating, although they are polite when doing it.

101 古油咖啡乌 Butter Kopi-O-Kosong = RM5.20

Served in a Slightly Larger Cup than usual with a Noticeable Aroma of Butter. Quite a Strong Coffee with a Noticeable Bitter Presence with No Siap Siap Aftertaste. The Coffee doesn't taste Oily. Sometimes there is abit of Butter Aftertaste that sneaks in. Not Bad Kopi Guyu.

350 手工水粿 Chwee Kueh = RM6.90

I was impressed with the Presentation. Amount looks Big and Generous and I really like that the Plate itself is Served Hot.

The Sambal has a Soft Texture with No Grittiness. It has a Delicious Savoury Haebee Presence. There is an Elevated Level of Spiciness and Saltiness but also Not Overly Salty with a Nice Richness. Nice Tasting Sambal.

The Black Sauce that the Chwee Kuehs are sitting on has a Mild Sweetness and Not Overly Sweet.

Chwee Kuehs are Standard Sized. Amount of Chai Poh is not alot and they are the Sweet Tasting Type. Kueh taste Soft and Smooth although there is no 油香味. Nowhere close to the 油香味 like in our Famous SG "Jian Bo Chwee Kueh" but still Tasty. Actually the Main Taste Profile mostly comes from that Sweetish Black Sauce. The Chai Poh themselves surprisingly don't contribute much except a Slight Veggie Crunch Texture.

Adding the Sambal Greatly Improved and Elevated the Taste because now there is an Additional Sweetish Haebee 香味 Spiciness. Overall, while this is Not Considered "Elite" Chwee Kueh Level for me, it is still a Decent and Above Average Chwee Kueh.

356 自制煎萝卜糕 Pan-Fried Radish Cake = RM11.90

This is Cai Tao Kueh (CTK). Again I liked that the Plate itself is served Hot. Nicely Presented, Amount of CTK is Acceptable. There is a Very Noticeable Delicious Eggy 蛋香味 that permeates the Entire Dish. Although No Wok Hei, I thought it still smelt Savoury Appetizing and Delicious. The Kueh themselves are in Big Pieces which I liked because they gave a Nicer Fuller Bite Texture.

That said, I don't feel they made the Kueh from Scratch and this is probably from a Package. Bite Texture of the Kueh felt a Tad Firmer than Usual, not the Soft Soft Type. What I do like is the 蛋香味 that I mentioned previously. Egginess is really prominent in every bite. 口口蛋香. Very Eggy Tasting, I feel they probably used at least 2 Eggs in the making of 1 Plate.

Other than the Prominent Eggy 蛋香味, the Overall Taste is Sweetish Saltish. More towards Sweet but also Not Overly Sweet. Saltiness is Considerably Milder and felt more like a Tease. The Taugeh and Spring Onion Stalks help with Adding Colour and a Nice Soft Veggie Crunch.

There are No Sambal Provided in this CTK. If you have extra Sambal Leftover from your Chwee Kueh, I would recommend to add them to this CTK which will elevate the Dish even more adding an Additional Haebee Dimension.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At RM5.20 (S$1.60) for the Kopi-Guyu, I thought it was a Reasonable Price as the Quality ain't bad.

At RM6.90 (S$2.10) for the Chwee Kueh is also a Reasonable Price as long as you don't expect this to taste like our Singapore Jian Bo Chwee Kueh. Its Decent Tasting and Above Average Quality.

At RM11.90 (S$3.60) for the Fried Radish Kueh (CTK), I feel this is Slightly Expensive but still a Reasonable Price to pay for the Quality and Amount given. Although there is No Wok Hei, Its still Decent Tasting and Above Average.

Overall, I have no issues with this place and I liked that it is one of the earliest to open for business even before KSL Mall's Official Opening Time.

During my first visit to this restaurant, I was truly impressed by their top-notch service. Upon arrival, I was promptly seated and handed a menu along with an order chit to place my orders. Each table was equipped with a bell button, allowing customers to easily get the attention of the staff. This attention to detail reflects their dedication to enhancing the customer experience.

Throughout my two-day visit, I dined at the restaurant three times. On my first visit, I tried their Penang char kway teow. While the taste didn't completely match the Penang style, leaning more towards the Singaporean style with sweet sauce, the kway teow was served piping hot and bursting with flavor, complemented by a satisfying wok hei taste. I paired it with a white kopi o kosong, which was enjoyable.

In the evening, I returned to try their Singapore prawn noodle. Although the noodle was flavorful, I found it a bit too soupy for my taste. I believe serving it drier would elevate the dish to excellence. The barley drink I ordered was refreshing.

The next morning, I returned once more to sample their laksa, accompanied by a traditional kopi o kosong. This version of the kopi was much better than the white variant, boasting a thick and flavorful brew. The laksa too was flavourful and tasty.

Compared to other similar setups in the same building, the prices at this restaurant are much more affordable, and the portions are generous.

I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you find yourself...
