Detailed Dining Review: A Mix of Culinary Delights and Seating Discomfort Seating Experience: A Bumpy Start for the Solo Diner (2/5 Stars) My dining experience began on a sour note, which unfortunately overshadowed the initial moments of my visit. Despite waiting in the general queue like every other patron, I was initially seated at a four-person table. Within a couple of minutes, a staff member approached me and, in what I perceived as a passive-aggressive tone, informed me that I would need to move to a smaller, corner table. The reason given was that the four-person table had been "reserved for another family," and the staff member added that if I wanted a bigger table, I would have to rejoin the queue. To be clear, the issue was not the move itself—I completely understand that a larger table is better utilized for a larger group, and I was more than happy to move. The true disappointment stemmed from the delivery of the request and the feeling of being unnecessarily singled out and treated differently simply for dining alone. It was not my mistake to be seated there initially, and a simple, polite request to move would have been much appreciated. This initial interaction was handled poorly and left me feeling unwelcome. Culinary Highlights: Exceptional and Highly Recommended (5/5 Stars) Fortunately, the food itself was truly beyond expectations and a major redeeming factor for the entire visit. The kitchen staff clearly excels, delivering dishes that were flavorful and deeply satisfying. Highly Recommended Dishes: Boneless Fried Chicken: This was a standout dish—crispy, perfectly seasoned, and a must-try. Bingsu (Dessert): An excellent finish to the meal, the bingsu was a delightful and refreshing treat. Other Dishes Tried: Bulgogi Chicken with Rice: This was a solid and good option, meeting expectations for a classic dish. Fried Noodles with Egg: This dish was the weakest link, unfortunately being relatively dry. Overall Verdict While the first impression was flawed due to the passive-aggressive handling of the seating reassignment, the quality of the food elevated the overall experience significantly. The culinary team deserves high praise for delivering truly delicious, must-try dishes like the fried chicken and bingsu. My overall rating for the experience is "Okay," but it would have been an easy "Excellent" if the initial customer service moment had been handled with a more professional and empathetic approach. I recommend the restaurant for the delicious food, but management should address the training of front-of-house staff regarding the respectful handling of...
Read morePlace: situated on the 2nd floor of a building (K-Town at the bottom), gave a false impression that it was not crowded. But boy was I wrong!! Once I've gotten my number at the entrance, just a short flight of stairs up, and the crowd was HUGE!! But I only waited 5mins before being called towards my seat. Lucky I guess. But they have ample seats and it's still fully occupied all the time!! Despite being a full house, air-conditioning is felt! On a birthday event, the staff even sings the song in Korean!! Lol. Well done.
Service: from the giving of waiting number, to the seating, the Staff were friendly and fairly efficient. Ordering was via QR code. My experience here: after placing order for my first time here, we were waiting for our orders. Then came along the ?manager who asked us if we wanted water (plus point). Wonderful. Proactive and alert despite being a full house. Then she went and made the effort (without me saying a thing) to check on my order (second plus point). Lo and behold, I did not submit it online. She kindly informed and made sure the order made its way to the kitchen. (Another plus point!) Wow. Service at its best!! Kudos!! Food served at speed of ala-fast food!!
Food: honey mustard cheesy fried chicken Bumbuk: wow...one of their signature dishes of fried chicken with cheese!! Yum!! Wonderfully done and perfectly cooked and combined to cheesy and moist chicken heavenliness! Chicken at its best. Verdict: 4.8/5.
Anchovies and tuna rice ball: another specialty here with the staff rolling the rice into bite size balls for your enjoyment. The flavour profile is complex, balanced and not overpowering one another despite having many ingredients in a dish. Tuna and rice lover beware!! Verdict: 4.8/5.
Melon bingsoo: 1 of 2 signature desserts here. They have an improved version of bingsoo which is equally nice. Wow. Love bingsoo. So, can't find fault in this dish. Only down side: more fruits please!!...
Read more📍 K Fry Urban Korean Holiday Villa, Johor. Had a nice first-time experience here and the highlight for me was their rice balls. The entire time we’re there all we hear are happy birthday songs! 😂 The staff will form a crew and bring a happy birthday LED board with a fancy bingsu and sing happy birthday. Initially, I thought the bingsu is free because it happened too often. Almost every table around us had it. (It’s not, and I found out that you can order anything as the birthday ‘cake’ and the staff will arrange it for you).
Here’s what we tried: 🍗 K’FRY GARLIC SOYA CHICKS - RM40.48 It’s flavorful, I love that it’s well-marinated. I feel some parts are a bit dry and hard, not as juicy and tender as I expected them to be.
🍜 BUDAE JIGAE (Korean Army Stew) - RM56.72 What’s in here? chicken, ham, sausage, chicken luncheon meat, baked bean, cheddar cheese, and noodles. It’s free unlimited ramyeon and soup! There were 6 of us and we refill 9 times 😂
🍟TRUFFLE FRIES - RM24.24 This was not bad, not great either. Can taste the truffle flavor but I feel the fries were not deep-fried enough. It would have been nicer if the fries were crustier on the outside. You can choose either tomato, chili, or mustard as your dipping sauce. We went with chili. I heard many good reviews about their bulgogi fries, will try that next time.
🍾 LYCHEE RITA - RM21.92 Love the presentation. Wished there were some lychee chunks in there. Overall enjoyed this.
🍙ANCHOVIES & TUNA RICE BALL - RM33.52 This is my favorite one out of the bunch. The staff will mix everything together and roll it into a rice ball for you.
🍙HAM & CHEESE RICE BALL - RM32.36 Similar to the one above but I find this one less flavorful. It would have been nicer if the cheese was slightly melted I think 🤔
The portion is big here. Go in bigger groups if you want to try...
