Veggie Story Cafe Johore — Restaurant in Johor

I don't know how to say this but this place is really a game changer in the vegetarian scene. Super duper good food and at a reasonable price! Serving is huge and you will ask for more!

Our family of 8 ordered 9 dishes with 2 side dishes and 4 drinks. Here are some of the reviews

Kimchi stew - this is the lowest rating out of all the food we ordered because you can do taste the vast difference of non vegetarian vs vegetarian kimchi. It is not that spicy and flavourful but is still nice. A 6.5/10.

Petal fried rice - taste good. Petai taste good and fresh but hope got more petai beans actually.

Salted egg rice - Awesome too. The mushroom is flavourful and has a nice bite to it.

Satay tofu - good serving. Tofu is piping hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Cucumber is crunchy. Satay sauce is yummy, not salty and generous serving.

Golden mushroom - so so good! We were so full but still manage to finish it!

6 (Please order this!) Mala creamy soup / mala hot pot. I shall classify them together. I have to say that the paste they use is phenomenal. There is no need for any other seasoning. The dry version is nice too. Well stir fried, veges are not overcooked or undercooked.

Bonus: their coffee latte, milk tea, honey latte and green tea latte are all very good too!

Brought my mum there a few times and always like the food and atmosphere, never think that i will had such a bad experience today. My mum tried the malaxiangguo set, but soon realised the foods are too salty for her so she asked for some hot water to rinse it, but in the end still unable to finish it. So she gave feedback to the waiter and one of them came over and said: wa…auntie you eat half way already i can’t do anything liao. Never expected this words to come out at first 😅 kind of shock. Then he just walk away. When paying the bill, my mum asked if can refund for that set or at least give some discount, the same waiter showed no sorry face and said again: since you already eat half of it, nothing i can do for you. So my mum got really upset and said she will never visit again (ok, which she shouldn’t but she’s kind of direct person 😂), but who knows one of the waiters standing at the side immediately walk towards his colleagues and repeated again what my mum said with mocking tone: u know what she said, she said she will never visit again! Definitely a mindblown to me 😂 so now i agree with my mum that we shouldn’t visit again. God bless...

I went here for lunch with my friends, and I did not have a good time. There seems to be a language barrier, because our server didn't understand English, but that was still understandable. We ordered our food and it took extremely long to get our food, even though we were the only people in that restaurant. Even when we got our food, after a long wait, it was just unappetizing for all of us. I ordered a laksa veggie mutton dish with rice, and personally for me, the rice had an extremely weird texture, and the laksa veggie mutton did not taste like laksa at all. It tasted like they had thrown in various random spices and mixed it up. Not to mention, the food was quite expensive too and it's not worth trying out. I tasted all of my friends' food too and none of it was appetizing at all. In my eyes, Malaysia has a standard for their taste of food, and this restaurant did not satisfy that at all, and I do not recommend going here to try their food. I did enjoy their mini hash browns though, and the place had a nice atmosphere but that's about it...
