I had remembered Yasmin from a previous visit to Langkawi before the pandemic, which should tell you a lot to begin with.. Delighted to see it was still operating after Covid and hungry, I went to dine there and found the food just as rapturous as last time. I went twice as the menu is fairly comprehensive. Yasmin restaurant is great for vegetarian food - over two visits I ate the moutabal that had a beautiful consistency and perfect smokey taste complimented by pomegranate jewels and a sprinkling of sumac, a beautifully fresh fatoush with lettuce, apples, cucumber, tomato, pomegranate, pepper and fried bread. The falafel was freshly made so took a few minutes to arrive which is always a good sign and they were exemplary - fluffy, light, moist with a crunchy, crispy exterior. Finally the hummus - exactly how hummus is supposed to taste, nutty and perfectly smooth with olive oil and sumac. This is absolutely authentic hummus - made from dried chick peas and all de-shelled if you’ve had that before you’ll know what I mean. Finally, the freshly oven baked khoubz is divine. Yasmin Restaurant is the best Middle Eastern food I have have outside the Middle East itself. A visit is highly...
Read moreUpdate: This place is still the best in Langkawi for Syrian style grilled kebabs, falafel, hummus and hot, tasty bread. Thought of trying some of the other restaurants serving similar fare but we dumped the idea. We went back twice on this trip, the second time with a group of Swiss friends, with no previous experience of Syrian cuisine. They loved it. As for my family and myself we can only say - keep it up guys 😋👍.
Older review: My family and I had gone for a meal a few years ago during an earlier visit to Langkawi and loved it. So much so, that during our visit to Langkawi this November we made it a point to go back. And we still loved it. We did a take-out once and a couple of days later ate dinner. On both occasions we were full and happy. The mixed grill, lamb kebab, the shawarma wrap and hummus were our favourites. The hot bread for our sit in dinner were so tasty. On both occasions we were served by a young friendly gentleman. I can't remember his name, but his warm smile was welcoming and made the whole experience better. When we visit Langkawi again, we're coming...
Read moreEvery single thing we had was a 10/10. We came yesterday and got the kids fish and chips. Totally didn’t expect much because it’s a Syrian restaurant and Fish and Chips isn’t a specialty but OMG it was so good. So me and hubby came back today and got the chicken shawarma and arayas lamb with cheese. Both were sooo flavorful, don’t forget to ask for hot sauce, they make an in-house one that is not crazy spicy but is perfectly tart and pairs well with the garlic sauce and shawarma. Then we topped it off with some baklava and Turkish coffee. The baklava were good but we had their kunafa yesterday and I would get that over and over again. The only reason we didn’t get it today was because we were too full but im actually contemplating taking one to go, it’s that good. The coffee was strong and tasty. The atmosphere is very relaxed and our server Tarik was excellent, he’s actually the one that recommended the kunafa. We are here a few more days and will probably be back a few more times. If you are hanging out by Pentai Chenang beach I definitely recommend checking out...
