Two Different Experiences in One Resort – Honest Review We stayed at Malibest Resort and had two very different experiences depending on the section of the resort. When we first booked, we couldn’t find availability in the Premier/Beachfront section (which is known to be much better), so we had no choice but to book in the older/back section. Unfortunately, that part of the resort did not meet our expectations at all — the room condition, location, and overall experience were below average. I would personally give that section only 2 stars. We explained the situation to the reception and requested to move to the better section. They asked us to come back the next day. At that point, I told them we were thinking of moving to another hotel altogether, since we weren’t able to use or enjoy the first room at all. Thankfully, the staff were kind and did their best to help us. They managed to find us a room with a king bed in the Premier section (although it was not sea view), and while it wasn’t a family room, we managed — my son slept on the sofa. The room was much better overall — clean, well-located, and more comfortable — and I would rate this section 4 stars. However, there was miscommunication about breakfast. When we moved to the new room and paid the difference, I asked if breakfast was included, and I was told yes. But the next morning, we were surprised to hear that breakfast was not included, which was disappointing and confusing. To be fair, it's not the resort's fault that we arrived late or booked the lower section — and we appreciate the staff’s effort to improve our stay. Overall Summary: Older/back section: 2★ (Not recommended) Premier section (not sea view): 4★ (Recommended) Advice: If you plan to stay here, try to book early and directly in the beachfront or premier rooms, and be sure to confirm clearly what’s included, especially breakfast. It makes a big difference.

The premier rooms are in the new building and are in good condition as opposed to other reviews I came across. Probably other category rooms in older building and chalets aren’t that good and old. So if you can afford then only book their premier rooms and trust me they wont disappoint you. Our room had full sea view and was huge with sofa and smart TV as well which kept my elder son happy. We didn’t need room service so can’t comment about their service. Bed is comfortable but bedsheet and pillow covers weren’t extremely clean and had some yellow stains. Bedsheet was also torn a bit and walls had some mold and paint was coming off which I think is unavoidable as resort is facing beach. They can think of having acrylic walls to avoid this in future. Another issue is they don’t provide hair dryer. For a beach resort, hair dryer is a must. They didn’t help us take our luggage up to the room. We had to take our luggage ourselves. Swimming pool is okayish but has slides for kids. Breakfast was decent being a 2-3 star hotel and restaurant staff was very sweet and helpful. The hotel doesnt give early check in at all so do not reach the hotel before 2.30pm expecting check in. The earliest checkin time is 2.30pm. They do have a lugguge room where you can keep your lugguge. They also kept our lugguge after check out which we later picked up after returning from sky bridge. The location of the hotel is amazing. It is right on beach and also on main street area with tons of restaurants and shopping options. Full marks for location. The area of the beach of clean and not too crowded either. We had zero regrets with our hotel booking and would prefer staying here again in same room.

Was influenced by TikTok to try out their tree chalet as it's been bragged on as a must-try. Booked and paid full for 3 nights (RM840) way ahead of arrival. On the phone, specifically request that the tree chalet's view facing the sea is not obstructed by trees, or at least half the view as it would beat the purpose of taking up such room. Upon arrival, checking in procedure was casually late due to a queue of checking out patrons and lack of manpower, understandable enough. The buggy staff was kind enough to bring us to the tree room but when we got there, we were beyond disappointed. We couldn't see the sea at all due to the branches from the trees blocking it. Went to the front office and asked for another room as we booked the tree room just to enjoy the sea view. 2 rooms were given to choose from and we ended up picking the only room with minimal sea view (as photos). The room we chose had flaws. There were tons of mosquito-like insects at the balcony where we initially plan to sit and enjoy the sunset. Not only we had to get repellant, sitting there with no view is a great frustration. The steps leading up to the room was not that safe as it was quite steep. Only spent 1-night and decided to check-out the next day and head straight to Resorts World. For an additional RM50 per night at RW, we got greater facilities, awesome view and excellent service. We don't mind the drive to Porto Malai (about 5 mins away). Plus, our sunset cruise departs from the jetty at RW so it's a plus point. The refund process of our paid remaining nights was promised to be credited within 1 week but it didn't came through. I had to walk-in and phone-in to remind and ask about my refund few times then only it was credited. We're not fussy or demanding but being smart about making sure the experience is worth every ringgit spent.

The worst hotel experience. I and my sister booked here via Agoda for 3 days 2 night. My sister had stayed here before covid so she suggested this, but later on even she regret it. Service: Worst so bad customer service she treat/cin us while sitting, never welcome customer no smile, feeled racist as they treat the Malay customer in good manner. Facilities: Lousy I was given room 2008 and the a/c was leaking at 12.30 am after a tired day when called reception he send a maintenance, who' s face was like forced to work after blowing the pipe n knocking the a/c he said ya it's done I was like seriously? Then after he left at 12.55 the A/C water started to drip in a heavy way we're I have to call back the reception, he ask me to wait I waited till 1.20am I guess then he switch us to a different room he said he is the security on duty no reception at night, he gave us room 3010... Seriously that was a night mare with a creepy sound from the upper floor as someone crawling, I felt the disturbance so scary I was not able to sleep till 4 am. The next day I pray n on the holy songs cause I am there for 2 nights n I have no time to shift the hotel. Then I missed my face wash at the first room I told the receiption before I left pls bring n keep at reception I will collect later, but nop we return to the hotel in the evening only then he checking with the House keeping in 2nd floor and asked us to collect by our self. Hair dryer was limited we have to return in 2 hours. There was mini cockroach inside the rooms.. My sister put the make up room symbol on at 7.30am surprisingly no 1 does it till 3.30pm when asked she told wait lah not yet ur turn ufff... The parking is a another hassle as they said provided behind Indian restaurant even there is full when asked the staff answered this is what my management prepared what u expect me to do... Wow I am also a hotelier for past 12 years seriously u people are not professional and dont have a proper management. Maliworst not Malibest.

I recently stayed at Malibest Resort, and I must say it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a hotel. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that the service was going to be nothing short of abysmal. The receptionists, in particular, were astonishingly rude and unprofessional. Not only were they utterly disrespectful, but they also seemed completely uninterested in their jobs. When we approached them with questions or concerns, they would listen briefly, only to turn their heads and carry on with whatever they were doing, as if we were invisible. It was as if they couldn’t care less about the guests or their needs. The level of disregard was beyond frustrating, leaving us feeling helpless and unwelcome. As for the hotel itself, it was a total disaster. The moment we stepped through the door, all we could think about was leaving. The place was filthy, with an overall atmosphere of neglect. The rooms were dirty and poorly maintained, making it nearly impossible to feel comfortable or relaxed. It’s hard to imagine how this place stays in business with such low standards. The breakfast provided was equally appalling. There was no variety whatsoever, and the quality of the food was terrible. It felt like an afterthought, as if the hotel had no interest in providing a decent meal to start the day. We dreaded going to the dining area each morning, knowing we were in for yet another disappointment. Malibest Resort is a place I would never recommend to anyone. The service is deplorable, the staff are rude and disrespectful, and the hotel itself is in a miserable state. We couldn’t wait to leave and put the entire experience behind us. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay—anywhere else would be better than this. Actually, I made sure to warn every single person I encountered—whether locals or tourists—to avoid this hotel at all costs. Everyone I spoke to, from all corners of Malaysia, is now well aware of the disaster that is...
