Can here because I wanted to sit on the sand. When we arrived, we asked if we could take a bean bag and sit on the sand. They said yes. Three minutes later a guy asks if we can sit at the bar area cause they need to arrange the bean bags. After 5 minutes there were some bean bags laying around so I asked again if we could move there. He said no cause they needed to clean everything. Took at least 20 minutes. The guy didn't have the decency to let me know when they were done and I had to ask again. Happy hour means you buy 2 of the same thing and get the third free but it can't be two different cocktails even if the price is the same, it needs to be exactly the same Ridiculous. Cocktails are ok (cost the same as at the 5 star resort restaurant Pelangi Grill where I bet they are better). The music is so loud it's uncomfortable. You can't really talk...
Read moreOverpriced and disappointing drinks. We went along one evening to have a drink and watch the fire show and ordered a Tequila Sunrise for 24 RM (about £4.50) and a 'mug' of draught lager at 10 RM (about £2), most local bars on the beach charge 5 RM for a small can so I was expecting a pint mug more or less. Instead I got an almost full pilsner glass of cloudy lager (about a small cans worth) and my wife's Tequila Sunrise tasted like the closest it had got to alcohol was its name as there was the barest hint of tequila in it. The lager tasted ok so I suspect it was due to an additive (lime juice maybe) as everybody's looked similar but considering the duty free status of Langkawi and the price there was no excuse for a cocktail weaker than a UK lager shandy! The fire show was ok, nothing special, the music was predominantly Reggae (weird); we...
Read moreLove this place since my first visit to Langkawi 5 years ago. However Langkawi has changed a lot especially after Pandemic, foreign travellers are rare, local non-Muslim traveler begin to only opt for high end luxury resorts which they spent most time in it. I visited Langkawi once a year and observed the rapid changes. Cenang beach stretch only left Kalut & Yellow Beach Bar. The rest of the pubs and bars are gone and became Bazaar for Ikan bakar/ sambal sotong. This place still serve alcohol, the vibes are still good and lively. Price are reasonable. But it is also becoming halal-friendly if you know what I mean. Perhaps some ground rules can be set to make sure your original crowd don’t run away. I’ll still come back to this bar if I ever visiting Langkawi again but foreseen not in...
