I had dinner with my family on March 30, 2025. The food was good, but the atmosphere? Absolutely unbearable. One particular staff member—a woman in a green shirt and a black hijab—was constantly yelling out instructions, yet she wasn’t actually doing anything herself. Just shouting. Loud enough that we could hear her from outside. It completely ruined the dining experience, making us, as customers, feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
As someone who has spent decades in the F&B industry, I know the difference between a well-run team and pure chaos. What I witnessed was the latter. Instead of working together with her colleagues, she created a toxic, disorganized mess, acting as if she was the only one working while making the entire place feel tense and unpleasant. It was exhausting just to sit there and listen to her.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse—after being called out by a customer—she suddenly changed her approach. She went from screaming orders to walking around, handing out ang pows to the children at every table. Seriously? I had a terrible experience at this Bananabro outlet due to one staff member, “Achik” (green t-shirt, black hijab). I arrived at 5 PM to make a reservation for iftar, but she was rude and dismissive, not even bothering to acknowledge me. When I asked for the menu, she just pointed at the table without a proper response.
Throughout the evening, she was yelling non-stop—at staff, in the kitchen, and even right next to my ear when I asked about my missing order. The entire restaurant, including customers, was uncomfortable with her behavior. Despite her excuse that she needed to be loud to get staff to work, other busy F&B places manage just fine without creating a toxic environment.
I’ve visited multiple Bananabro outlets, but this was by far the worst experience because of one staff member.
After I asked for her name, she seemed to realize her behavior was wrong. She went around apologizing to other tables, offering papadom and saying, “Sorry for being loud, don’t get mad,” but completely ignored my table. However, Banana Bro AEON Maluri, please train your staff properly. It was really frustrating to eat while hearing your staff shouting. Even my child felt uncomfortable in such an environment. Please improve and train your staff to be more professional.
On top of that, one of the staff members who was shouting even spoke to my mother, saying that the staff here are incompetent and don’t understand instructions unless they are yelled at and scolded. They also mentioned that the boss doesn’t have the budget to hire more staff. How can a staff member complain to customers like this? That is highly unprofessional.
