A cozy establishment with an unassuming front but is thoughtfully laid out inside. There are a number of private rooms available - we used a small one which was perfect for our party of 3. Usually it's a challenge to get prompt service when seated in a private room but was pleasantly surprised that the service staff was very responsive to our calls (there's a button in each room).
Actually, service in general here was surprisingly excellent - and that's saying a lot in this city. It was prompt, polite and above all genuinely friendly, but not to the point that it was intrusive. It's a rarity to find such good service like this in these parts so great job to the team!
The food was pretty decent. We had the 400g wagyu plate - pretty pricey as expected but standard KL prices. Quality of meat was decent but the optional ' shiokoji' marinade of rice, garlic, salt was a nice surprise. Personally I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to grilled meat - so it's just salt/pepper. But my friends enjoyed the yuzu dipping sauce that came with. The menu isn't very extensive, so that's the only downside. It's pretty much yakiniku cuts ( a few types only, so not high on variety - no tongue etc) and some side dishes, but the portions for the side dishes are decent. The tempura was a tad too crispy/overcooked so wouldn't recommend but the kimchi was great. The washrooms are great - not too tiny, clean and with enough paper, soap, so plus points there. All in all, a nice little place that I would consider returning to mostly for the great service, comfy ambiance and that garlic marinade thing but if you're looking for a lot of variety then this may not be the...

Read moreFirst thing's first, ambience was nice, as you've got a choice to be seated at the private rooms or the booth seats which is the common area outside.
Food presentation was immaculate, chef's kiss! But what's most important is the taste of the food so we got the Omakase set which comes with 5 cuts of A5 Wagyu; 3 cuts are non-marinated and 2 cuts are marinated and all of which melted in the mouth in 2 seconds. Juicy, perfectly seasoned and beautiful marbling on all of these cuts; the amount of joy they bring me is next level.
The rest of the items that come with our set were fried enoki and brinjal, sweet potato chips, miso soup, kimchi, rice and dessert of your choice. To be frank, the enoki tasted slightly oily and you could feel like there's too much of it. I would prefer if the brinjal is lightly salted as it is a little bland but you can dip it in the dipping sauce too if you'd like so not an actual complaint there. One of the best kimchi I've tasted thus far, I packed them home 😤.
Great place to come if you have any celebrations with your loved ones or just seeking to get a good A5 wagyu tasting. 10/10 would recommend.
Oh, and another insider tip: it's a sister restaurant to Meatpoint so if you are a loyal, returning Meatpoint customer and spend a certain amount there, you'll be getting a voucher for your next visit to Chakuro. Nurul was the sweetest most patient person who explained to us regarding the business and everything...
