The food is just OK for someone who has never tried Sri Lankan or Indian subcontinent food. The rm 15 Yarl Thali set could have been better EVEN WITH only 3 vegetables, which are very ordinary and are commonly found in banana leaf restaurants or mamak. I expected it to be more unique dishes related to Tamil or Sri Lanka. I remembered the lunch I had at Brickfields a few years ago and had to drag my family to try this branch as I was passing by the ttdi branch. However, I was disappointed with the lack of any standout dishes. The curry came with puttu, which was like 2 tomatoes ish that is the same, and a yellow tumeric-based one, and was not the idi sambal that was described and confirmed by the staff, so I had to ask for it later. The vegetables in the Yarl thali set need to be improved in quality and in number except just for daal rasam or beetroot. Masala dosa is again just ok, but it would have been better to roll it up with filling inside rather than flattening it, making it crispy and savoury, not soggy. The fish fried is delicious but greasy as deep fried, but too small for a thin cutlet for rm 14 can't help but compare other Indian restaurants across kl or pj. So we were like we shouldn't take for granted how ridiculously good the RM 19 thali set at Sarabhavan Bhavan with over 10 kinds of vegetables and dessert, curd etc are, plus it's refillable. I think the atmosphere and lively ambiance are the hit, not the food here. And the staff is great too! He brought us thr Idi sambal upon request for...
Read moreI used to eat at this place regularly before it changes hand to become yarl at brickfields and then branch at ttdi. Personalised, authentic and reasonable price. But now it is crazy, service is bad, waited for the drinks like forever even after the food had finished the drinks yet to come until the waiter had to say sorry few times. And then the price of a sweet appam used to be below rm4 then rm 4 and now rm 5.50 ridiculously price. No wonder there is no one eating and the shop is normally packed with people. I can eat the sweet appam at least 4-5 plate now I can barely eat one , it is way too expensive for a plate of flour and sugar. Not to mentioned the plain thosai is rm4.90, crazy! if I get the onion thosai it will cost me rm 6.80 not including tax yet for a thosai oh my god! Put aside the environment, I have to give a thumbs up as it is modern and clean. But people come for the food and remember this is after covid if yarl boss continues to increase the price they are gonna lose customers because it is just too expensive and not filling to the stomach as the portion is also small. I might as well eat from other Indian shops that is equally as good. Time to find a new shop for my thosai and...
Read moreThe food is average as is the coffee. Nothing great for the price you pay. For a Sunday breakfast, my experience was unpleasant. My friend and I met up here for a catch up and we had just finished eating (but still talking and drinking our coffee) when the waiter put the bill on our table. We had not called for the bill. My friend asked the waiter why he did that and the waiter just pointed to a line of customers waiting outside. Basically, he wanted to kick us out to make space for new customers. If the waiter had come to us to explain, we would have understood and there wouldn’t be a problem. My friend got angry and confronted the waiter until the waiter took back the bill and retreated. But by this time, our experience was already soured so we decided to go to another restaurant where we would be welcomed. I’m sure the waiter only acted upon orders from his management. I will never come back to Yarl ever again. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby which serves better food and provides better...
