Plaza Arcadia in DPC ( Desa Parkcity) seems to have evolved to a very much Chinese Themed restaurants mainly replacing the used to be much westerned bars, drinking holes, “fancy restaurants” serving mixture of fine dining and beer suited finger foods. This time around we seems to be discovering more and more Chinese Cuisines from hotpot’s, steamboats to dinner dishes which is very much leaning towards Mala, Spicy and Oily types of restaurants. Can’t be too judgmental nor biased and too critical on this manner as the overall “F & B complex” still does have its “ATAS” magnetism with still handful of Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Western restaurants.
This review however is very much on the Chinese Cooking restaurant where we were intrigued by north western style of dishes: starting with the sour and spicy tasting soup with boneless fish fillet, perhaps the most liked dish of the evening as it’s rather appetising and refreshing with sourness balanced by spice and a tinch of sweetness. Our second dish was rather dull in comparison as we had half a pecking duck served with rice wraps, sweet sauce, scallion and cucumber sticks. The following dish of Liver stir fried with ton of chilli gave our taste buds an almost heart awakening feeling. We top our experience were completed with Loads of BBQ skewers ( loaded with XingJiang type of spices) made up of Lamb, Beef, Pork, Chicken Giblets and some green veggies served BBQ style as well. Finally we added on another very much chilli loaded broiled Talipiah which was extremely mouth watering as well. Overall the entire Chinese ( PRC) experience were great and brings back memories of our trip to XingJiang and Silk Road trip two years back!!!. A two...
Read morePoorly cooked dishes especially the sui zhu yu, overcooked the fish and lack of flavour. Too much chili oil and chili but they forgot the salt and other seasonings.
Mouthwatering chicken - not mouthwatering at all, they gave breast meat which isn't really the ideal piece for this dish, but how they still overboil the chicken?? Anyway lack of flavour again, should have sweet, salty and spicy numbing. None was found.
You hire 20 over staff consisting of just 5 that can speak chinese and the remainder are Indonesians, pinoys, and Myanmar. One of your female staff was displaying bad service in which I received a mug of hot water, seeing that I could drink boiling hot water without burning my mouth, she was thinking that the kitchen staff gave me warm water instead. I understand the concern but who does she think she is to come right up and put the hands on the mug while I'm holding the mug by the handle. "Isn't this how water", she asks. Horrible service and the look she gave me when I told her to go away, nobody asked for her opinion on touching!
1 star is for the stir fried vegetable which was probably the best thing...
Read moreOrdered dan dan mein (担担面), water boiled pork slices (水煮肉片), dried pot potato slices (干锅土豆), ice jelly with brown sugar (红糖冰粉) & brown sugar glutinous rice cake (红糖糍粑).
Their menu is extensive and they even have rabbit meat dishes.
Overall taste is okay not bad but need improvement on some areas. Perhaps need a second visit to try their fish dishes.
The noodles is a bit overcooked hence it's soft for our liking and it is too peanuty and lack of sesame taste.
水煮肉片 is spicy and flavourful but the meat is tough as it's all lean meat. Not sure did they use starch to prep the meat before cooking. I had better 水煮肉片/鱼片/牛肉 in other chinese restaurant.
The potato dish is less spicy than I expected but it's taste good and comes with pork belly slices which add fragance to the dish. The only downside is I prefer the potato to retain a bit of crunchiness (preference is subjective)
Ice jelly is the best among all the items we ordered. It's added with 酒糟.
We didn't take picture of the rice cake but the presentation looks kinda sad. Nothing to shout about on the taste and other chinese steamboat restaurant had...
