Sept 2022 was the last we visited, 1st 3 pictures were taken in 2022. I gave this place a 3-star back then.
Oct 2024 Did not enjoy my experience here at all. There is changes to larger groups, where we can all sit together now.
But how do you expect 8pax to eat comfortably with that 1 tiny pot? That size boiler used to be for 2-4 pax. while before, if you have 5-6pax, you’ll get a long table with 2 of those pots on your table.(For reference, refer picture 1 and 2) Now, they are using one same sized pot for 8pax but sectioned into 4 for 4 different soup.(last pic)
Waiters are so unwilling to take the meat. The guy with red bandana and the guy with tattoo sleeves. If your chiller is too far and the staff is tired, we are more than willing to do it ourselves. There’s only 3 tables occupied throughout our 2 hours there and they can’t even act right. Train your staff to inform on senior citizen rate or any ongoing promotions. Also, I’ve never come across a hotpot buffet with no water, no water dispenser. There’s only 3 option of drinks (hot greentea, ice greentea and soy milk) which you need to pay additional. No soft drinks? The staff also kept taking away our cutleries, to probably rush us to gtfo. No wonder there’s only 3 tables dining on a weekend.
Places like other places, best one yet is Fei fan buffet - offers variety of food, more drinks option, water, ice, nicer experience, better service and I think few bucks cheaper 😂 Note to self, never to come here if I ever want to eat a lot of cheap meat. Come here spend money but have to see the staffs muka masam, kena halau lagi ishhhhh
Ok got to give credit where credit’s due… Their salted caramel ice cream is...
Read moreMy wife and I are fans of beef Shabu2 and frequent goer of Suki-ya in Mont Kiara and other beef noodles so we decided to try Kuro after hearing some positive reviews here. Quite disappointed with the outcome. Here’s the comparison (with Suki-ya)
Price: Suki-ya is RM40 per pax vs Kuro RM70 per pax include green tea for an afternoon lunch weekend price.
Taste: Our diet that afternoon is about 55% beef; 25% vegetables; 15% cut fish & squid, 5% ice-cream/others. While ice-cream is good, the main diet is beef. The Australian beef by Kuro tastes like pork and doesn’t look like red meat as its pale in color. We ask the waiter and they confirm its beef. Maybe the cutting is too thick, but it certainly doesn’t taste as good as typical beef in hot soup. Suggest the management to try Suki-ya and taste the difference, cheaper yet better.
Soup base and sauce : These are also important differentiator since the food is just meat & fresh vegetables. For soup base, I would say both equally good. But for sauce, Suki-ya is much better.
Environment: Nice and friendly. Since its CMCO, SOP is well adhered by management & customers. Kuro looks more spacious than Suki-ya, although Suki-ya is not bad either.
Value for money: You can argue that Kuro has Haagen Daaz and fish & squid served. But again how much ice-cream can you eat and if you are there mainly for the beef then its not worth. I seriously recommend the management to review your basic beef offering and try the other shabu2 competitors to taste the...
