One of the worst fine dining experiences i’ve ever had. Nothing wrong with it but was just not worth the price tag. We had the degustation menu as its usually what the chef curates that would be the best and freshest produce prepared with attention to detail. For a price tag of RM888++, i would expect something amazing. Food was slightly above average, nothing inspired or interesting. Nothing exciting. Slightly above average ingredients. Nothing extravagant. Just a few slices of truffle and abalone are the only ‘posh’ ingredients. Some of the dishes did not work and was not very well balanced. Tastes ok. But who wants ok for fine dining? Service was as mediocre as the food. Again, service is nothing special- one of the waiters gave lame descriptions for the food like “grilled beef”(which was the best dish served as the wasabi on the side was really good) or “cod with mushrooms”(Meh!) Can’t even be bothered with proper description of the food. Left utterly disappointed. Basically, for the price tag, a lot more is expected. This menu was worth at most RM450, and that’s being generous. 2 stars as the food and service was not bad, was not great either. And good does not cut it for...
Read moreCame to celebrate a friend's birthday. Tried the 3 course meals:
Baguette and Brioche with truffle cream cheese: The pastry with the cream cheese spread taste good. We even requested a second serving on the pastry.
Unagi and Foie Gras with red wine sauce: The unagi is adequately seasoned and very soft. However, i think the unagi no tare is too strong to overpower the mild taste of the red wine sauce. The portion of the Foie Gras is generous for the appetiser but maybe slightly oily. The beet roots puree at the side is a plus.
Wagyu beef tenderloin with bone marrow: This main dish is disappointment. The good thing is the beef is tender and cooked to perfection. However, the beef is severely under seasoned and the sauce taste too mild. The only food that taste good for the main dish is the mash potatoes at the side.
Dessert - Mystere: I can only taste sweet. Nothing else.
Overall, the course meal started strong but ended on a disappointing note.
Nevertheless, I would like to commend the waiter for very welcoming and good...
Read moreA stalwart of fine dining in the city. Some may say that the food does not carry the punch of other establishments, but that is missing the point... the joy of Cilantro lie in the smaller, finer, delicate details.
Wednesday dinner tasting menu feels a bit more adventurous or at least when the crew lets their hair down a bit... some of my favorite experiences lie here along with perhaps the very rare questionable one.
The staff always on point but the restaurant itself can do with a spruce up. Always wished Cilantro would live up to the latter part of its name... the wine bar. It's got a good selection to...
