Durian Power Food Stall — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is renowned for the king of fruits - Durian. During my recent trip, the allure of this delicacy drew me to Durian Power Food Stall. Travelling solo, I was careful not to order a size too large, given the limitations of hotel policies on durian leftovers. Opting for a modestly-sized durian that cost less than 50 MYR, I found it to be a real bargain, especially when compared to prices in Taiwan.

The durian I chose, termed the "Mountain Cat King", was a gustatory delight. Its creamy texture paired with a rich flavor truly lived up to its royal moniker. One thing that stood out was the skill of the stall owner. The way he deftly opened the durian was nothing short of masterful, revealing the creamy treasure within.

As I was wrapping up, the owner suggested some dried durian and mangosteen snacks, which I purchased for 100 MYR for three packs. However, a later visit to another store highlighted a pricing discrepancy - the same packs were priced at roughly 60 MYR. Location is very strategic in alor street culinary area and close to bukit bintang mrt entrance 1. Place is spacious, clean, and a decent variety of durian souvenir. Service was very helpful and kind people.

Unfortunately we’re very disappointed with the durian chosen for us. Bought 2 musangking durian but after eating it we realized it wasn’t musangking! The aroma isn’t the same, the seed were big, taste and texture were very different than the other musangking we had hundreds time previously. The shop keeper still tried to convince us it’s musangking, we’re not sure whether the shop was fooled by the supplier or we’re the foolish...

Hopefully the shop owner realizes and make necessary changes to keep the shop exist, it’s such a waste to see a potential business goes...

Durian in Malaysia is so good! Although I visited in April when it is not peak season for Durian, there are still plenty of decent sized Durians here. The place is very open at Backspace Alor and well decorated.

You can see the kitchen area where staff open durian and packs it for freezing. And the table and gloves are on one side where you can eat. There's also mangosteen drinks in the fridge for you to buy at the shop that helps you "cool down" after eating the Durian.

We had a 101, then Red prawn, then Mao Shan Wang. Then we also tried the traditional way of pouring water and salt on the shell to drink and "cool down". We tried their Mao Shan Wang ice cream, which was ok but...
