What was supposed to be a joyful birthday celebration turned into an absolute nightmare due to the rude staff, unprofessional service, and complete lack of hospitality. We left the restaurant feeling frustrated, disappointed, and utterly shocked by how we were treated.
To begin with, we had made a reservation for a private room, yet when we arrived, the staff insisted we had no booking and even accused us of making a double reservation. Instead of handling the situation professionally, they were dismissive and unhelpful. Only after pushing back did they finally take us to the room we had originally booked.
Then came the ordering process. The hostess, Mickey Lee, displayed zero professionalism and courtesy. She was visibly impatient, dismissive, and uninterested in serving us, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. When we asked about certain dishes, her response was curt and indifferent—completely unacceptable behavior for someone in the hospitality industry.
However, the most shocking and unacceptable incident of the night was a serious safety issue that the restaurant completely disregarded. There is an unmarked emergency exit near the restrooms, which guests are unaware of. As my friend was returning from the toilet, a staff member forcefully kicked the door open from the inside, slamming it into her face. The impact was so severe that her cheek was bruised and swollen, and she nearly fell to the ground.
What made this even worse was the response—or rather, the lack of response—from the staff. The employee who kicked open the door did not apologize and simply walked away as if nothing had happened. When we reported this to the head hostess, she stood there silently, did not offer medical assistance, and showed zero concern for what had just happened. Not a single apology was given.
This kind of horrible service and utter lack of care for customers is beyond unacceptable. The food was overpriced and nothing special, but honestly, even if it had been great, the awful treatment we received would overshadow everything.
🚨 We will NEVER dine here again and strongly warn others to stay away. 🚨

Read moreExtra Super Tanker - if you're not a foodie in PJ area, there is a high chance that you'd think that this is some sort of military tank (super sized) used in the war zone. But no... This is actually an English name for this hugely popular Chinese restaurant in PJ. The name is actually 文华轩 so it beats me on why they name their restaurant so. Anyway back to food topic.. I have been a regular here ever since the main restaurant was located in Damansara Kim - they have since moved to bigger restaurant in Glo Damansara which is directly opposite their previous outlet. Their old outlet in Damansara Kim has been turned into another restaurant but that's a story for another time.
Good Chinese food is almost guaranteed everytime I'm here. Not cheap I must say but I guess that's the price to pay for quality. ◾Thousand layer taufu - contrary to the name, it is actually a few layers (I counted 5) where 2 layer of hand sandwiched in between the silky smooth taufu soaked superior soy sauce and topped with fried shallots and spring onions. One of their signature dishes here.. and my favourite. ◾Claypot pork soft bone - I have to highlight this! Available in limited quantity, the pork soft bone was braised until the soft bone's texture become gelatin-like. The meat soaked up all the gravy goodness. ◾Steamed estuary grouper - this was BYO but credits to them.. they did a good job in steaming the gigantic fish meat. ◾Stir fried green dragon vegetable with macadamia nut - creative touch to the usually boring version of this vegetable with bean sprout. I found myself falling in love with this vegetable all over again. ◾Hokkien noodle - kids love it so who am I to complain!?
Reservation is a must in weekends as they are doing brisk business. At times, they are hosting wedding dinners. They do have another outlet in The Club @...

Been to this restaurant a few times in the last 15 years but feel compelled to wax lyrical over the meal that I recently had with here.
Nearly every dish was perfect - and this is hard to achieve. First up was the stewed pork soft bone. Tender, melt in your mouth and with sauce that will make you regret you were on a no-carbs diet. You will eat more rice than you normally would - guaranteed. The deep fried chicken stuffed with fish paste and almond slice was delicately flavoured, tender and moist. The roasted duck in sandwich style sounds like a disaster in fusion cuisine but it is just roast duck served with clam-shaped mantou. The crispy skin - aaaaaargh - is perfect. The mee suah in fu Zhou style was the birthday boy's favourite (mission accomplished!). As was the stuffed homemade beancurd. Deceivingly not a looker but tasted great and the tofu had great bean taste. The weakest dish was the nai pak with wan tan. Nothing wrong with these 2 ingredients but the soup was rather flat.
Service was generally attentive. We told the waiter to slow down the serving of dishes (one by one). This was heeded but the last two dishes took a long time to come. In fact, the last one took 15 mins (after the penultimate dish) to reach our table.
The meal was so good that I made a reservation here for my next big do.
Note that many of the special dishes must be pre-ordered in advance. No bother: just look up their full menu online and ask to speak with Miki (one of the captains). She was wonderful suggesting dishes to me on the phone and helped me...
