Fly Me To @ Kuala Lumpur — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Amir & Etty wanted to treat Kakak for her recent birthday at a nice and posh place, and had shortlisted a few venues...and upon some lengthy consultations, they have agreed on this particular one. The main reasons were that this restaurant was launched just recently in early November, and had quickly gone viral, and the photos looked amazing on social media..thus, they couldnt wait to go and see for themselves!!😱😱😱

It is located on the 37th floor of Regalia Condo's block A Tower, and there were ample parking spaces provided on the Ground Floor carpark, but you need to use your Touch & Go card, and park at the designated lots only. The condo looked quite exclusive, but rather ran down...☹

Once we had arrived at the venue, we were quite taken aback by the mixture in characters of the patrons. We had the prior impression that this is a high class outfit, only to be met with small children running wildly everywhere!! And the dressing of the patrons ranges from sophisticated evening dresses, smart casual shirts and pants, to tshirts and shorts!!😱😱😱..How I wished they would impose some kind of a dress code to keep it with proper decorum.

The setting and decor tend to indicate a desert like environment, with loose sands thrown on the bare cement rendered floor, some fake cacti planted at certain places, simple light wooden colored tables and chairs, and those cage like love seats around the open aired balcony seating area...I love those cage like thinghy, but was told that it wouldnt fit for our party of 6 adults, plus Eidlan..🙄🙄

So we settled with the table inside the restaurant proper, and started our orders. Daniel wanted to show off and ordered something fancy, the truffle carbonara with hotate and ikura, but to his surprise, they ran out of hotate and ikura!! He felt that he got scammed when they conveniently replaced the missing hotate and ikura with smoked duck, which turned out to be too salty...thus, Daniel was NOT a happy camper throughout the dinner...🤭🤣🤣🤣

I just had my simple comfort food, the aglio olio with smoked duck, but my duck was fine...its just that the aglio olio was too spicy!Would an italian eat a spicy dish like that? I will leave it for them to answer...🤔🤔

Well, I better stop reviewing the food already, as Najwa also had her fair share of complaint, and I dont want to spoil the mood for her birthday celebration..But for the Management, please...

We came here to celebrate a birthday and already paid for two Christmas sets. Based on our whatsapp conversation with the staff, we were told the table would be decorated as shown in the picture they posted on Instagram. However, when we arrived, there was no decoration at all, and the worst part was that only the Christmas set plate was served without any of the said decorations.

Additionally, the male staff didn’t assist us to our table and just told us to sit anywhere outside since we had booked the Christmas set. When it came time to order, the staff simply left the menu (christmas set) with us and didn’t explain the courses included in the set. It felt like they expected us to know everything. And when they food arrived, there was no deco at all other the plates served on table.

After I showed one of the staff (an Indian guy) the picture of the decoration and mentioned that it should be as shown, they apologized but seemed confused. Only then they went back and bring out the tiered serving tray. But that’s it, nothing more and boxes or other deco as per pic. We were very frustrated because when we asked the staff how about other deco like boxes etc. , he only ya “yes ma’am that’s all” and went back. So my little sister made a complaint to the staff that she whatsapp.

Then, that staff came over and said we would only receive the decorations if we had booked three sets. This was never mentioned upfront when I contacted them via WhatsApp, where they had confirmed the decorations would be as per the picture.It’s frustrating that they expected us to inform them first, instead of making it clear during the booking process. What if we hadn’t said anything? We would’ve paid for something that wasn’t delivered. The staff should have updated the system when we booked two Christmas sets to avoid this misunderstanding.

While the food itself was good, and the atmosphere was nice, the service was absolutely terrible, and I won’t be returning for future birthdays or events.

I visited here on 21st Sept 2024. I read the negative reviews extensively before I came here, and I have to say it’s 100% true. Service: TERRIBLE. They seem very understaffed and in a rush and a hurry. I have to call different waiters to get them to come and serve. I signaled to the female waiter and she acknowledged but then she just went out the door and didn’t come back. So I had to call another waiter. This happened multiple times where it’s so hard to get waiter’s attention. And we pay 10% service charge for this??? Food: the most underwhelming food I ever ate. I ordered a foldover pie and it’s literally just a puff pastry with cream sauce and 6 cubes of plain chicken and 6 cubes of capsicum. And 2 lettuce leaves. All this for RM38. WTF? The portion is damn small. Atmosphere: the only nice part is the outside deck with the nice city view. Building: this restaurant is located on the 37th floor of Regalia Residence, which seems to be full of Airbnbs. It is a very run down building and does not feel high end at all. Lift: I had to wait 10 MINUTES inside the lift because the lift stops every few floors from basement carpark floor to 37th floor. No freaking kidding and it’s freaking stuffy. I was squashed with many tourists and their luggage bags. This place is totally overrated and overpriced. If you want to go to a restaurant to enjoy the skyline view, I suggest you go Envi skydining.
