During our recent trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, we were on the lookout for a place that could serve us the familiar taste of Kerala. After trying various cuisines for days, we finally discovered this hidden gem in the heart of KL – and what a relief it was!
From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The restaurant is conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to access for both tourists and locals. The interiors are simple yet neat, giving off a homely vibe – something you miss when you’re far from home.
Now coming to the food – absolutely amazing! Every dish we tried was authentic, flavourful, and beautifully prepared. From the soft Kerala parottas to the spicy beef roast, from the tangy fish curry to the comforting moru curry – each bite reminded us of home. Even the small things like the chutneys and pickles were just as we would expect back in Kerala.
It was not just the taste, but the presentation and freshness that stood out. You could clearly tell that care had gone into preparing every dish. And the portion sizes were generous too.
What truly made the experience even better was the excellent service. The staff was courteous, attentive, and always had a smile. They patiently explained the dishes to our non-Indian friends and ensured we felt comfortable throughout.
Being abroad, it’s often difficult to find food that reminds you of your roots – but this place really hit the mark. It gave us a slice of Kerala right in the middle of Malaysia.
Highly recommended to anyone craving authentic South Indian/Kerala cuisine while in Kuala Lumpur. Whether you’re a Malayali missing home or someone wanting to explore real Kerala flavours – don’t miss out on this place!

Read moreFrm the food to the atmosphere, every bit of the restaurant has my praise. The menu was very professional and eye catching. Multiple Kerala food choices to choose from left me to pick my brain to finally come to a decision. I ordered the onion pepper thosai while my partner ordered egg thosai. Both tasted delicious, crispy and thin with pairing good choices of dips. Although the coconut chutney was a bit too watery for me, the overall taste was good. I additionally ordered Paneer Butter Masala, also tasting delicious. I couldn't finish it with the thosai alone so I ordered an extra piece of Parotta to test their crispyness with the dough and they didn't disappoint. 9/10 fr food.
The service is good but could've been better by being more attentive to waiting tables. They were shy behind the counter and I had to stand up walk towards the counter to order the additional food. Still, before I left I had a good chat with the waiter and his history back at kerala, the origin taste of the food. 8/10.
Overall atmosphere was welcoming and quiet, abit too congested sittings but the high ceiling and decorative interior masks the shops design flaws. 8/10. Had a good time, I'll sure to come back fr...
Read moreMy spouse and I had an unfortunate experience at Mango Cafe, where we both fell ill with diarrhea, taking several days to recover.
We arrived at the restaurant around 2:30 PM to find the air smoky from the kitchen, dirty tables, and debris on the floor. An unattended lunch buffet was left open to the air, raising concerns about hygiene.
While the wait staff were kind and helpful, they lacked coordination and communication with each other.
Having had plenty of Indian food before, I found the offerings at Mango Cafe unusual. The coconut paratha was disappointing. We suspect the beef vegetable cauliflower dish caused our illness, but it could have also been the sauces from the ghee dosa. We also had pure fruit juices.
The dishes arrived sporadically, and we never received an additional vegetable dish we ordered, though we weren't charged for it.
Contrary to some reviews claiming this is the best Indian food in Kuala Lumpur, our experience...
