We've been traveling around South East Asia for the last 4 months and having stayed in some very poor hostels in the likes of Cambodia this has now found its way to the top spot on the worst place we've ever stayed .
Where to begin? I'll start with the staff as they were an embarrassment to the company. The Indian group of staff that we had the misfortune of dealing with were utterly appalling at their jobs on several occasions.
Our check in was below any kind of standard and felt rushed, we were not provided with any information & no.wifi code. When we got to our room it was a complete state - no toilet roll, stained worktops, the sheets looked as though they had been washed on the cheap and looked grimy. The bed had a massive dip in it & you can literally hear EVERYONE on your floor from chatting, doing their business, closing doors (all night long I slept terribly) the toilet hand shower was broken and we had NO foot towel which made coming out a WET ROOM extremely DANGEROUS as the floor was slippery. The room was for sure the next biggest problem with the place - I genuinely have no idea how anyone sleeps here.
Upon asking reception for a) a toilet roll and b) a WiFi code, we received NO apology or care & when we asked her for the WiFi she simply pointed behind her. The next morning we went out to explore the city and assumed that our room was going to be cleaned (there were no signs to put on the door and again - no information from the staff about this upon check-in) I thought best to let reception know that we wanted our room cleaned & was told by a separate woman that she will ensure its cleaned. When we got back late afternoon - there were no fresh towels and no sign of any cleaner. Tired & irked by their lack of honesty & competence I went back down to reception & asked why our room hadn't been cleaned. She advised that there was only ONE member of.house keeping and they were still cleaning check out rooms.... I did not get one apology.
OYO - this was a shambles from.start to finish you cannot hire such incapable, rude and disrespectful staff to manage your Reception. They clearly have no idea how to interact with customers graciously & thus, we were left frustrated & vexed at how we had been treated with such disregard.
We've since gone across the road to the Travel Lodge which we love (a million times more professional & comfortable) Wish we found it sooner and avoided the mess that is OYO - people who have read this far - AVOID THIS PLACE AT...
Read moreIf you're looking for a place with a very strategic location for enjoying the street food around Chinatown KL, this is it. Just don’t expect to actually enjoy the hotel itself.
The walls are nicely decorated with mold and the ceiling has that artistic water stain effect. The room has a unique aroma – a mix of old cigarette smoke and a hint of “something not quite right.” The mattress has seen better days (maybe even decades), and the AC is practically a vintage dust collector.
Bathroom highlights include a wobbly sink, a broken toilet seat, and a bidet handle that’s clearly on its last legs. The shower, while warm, has the pressure of a gentle drizzle, perfect if you want to save water.
Soundproofing? Zero. You’ll become quite familiar with your neighbors’ shower routines and door-slamming habits. The elevator is a cozy little metal box that makes you appreciate every safe landing.
On the bright side, the staff is friendly and helpful – a small mercy in this otherwise interesting...
Read moreBasic. Even if you have a twin room you are only allowed one access card for your room. Management have not kept this place maintained. The door to the room had big gaps and light from the hall came through even though it was selotaped over. I don't think the bedding is ever changed. I have clear skin and I ended up with sores on my body from sleeping in them. There were no towels in the room or toiletries. The room size is fine but the rooms don't look like illustrations shown on the advertisement. Their business card should never have the word luxurious on it unless it's compared to non Western prison. Everything I have stated is true and I hope management up their maintenance and cleaning levels. Bonus it is low cost and in a convenient part of KL in Chinatown Petaling...
