Life-changing dark chocolate doughnuts and choux pastries!
This place is a gem! We ordered over 10 doughnuts and pastries on a whim. We were simply too stuffed from lunch to eat there and then, but that was my one regret. Because once we actually got to teatime, I could not stop. I started on the Paris Brest and while waiting for others to come have a bite, I took another bite. By the time others were ready, I had already finished 3/4 of it. The pastry was completely filled with rich hazelnut cream with hints of caramel. Every bite you take, will give you a perfect balance of cream and pastry, which lies between 8:2 and 1:9.
The chocolate caramel choux was chocolatey and caramelly. That beautiful choux pastry just held all that filling so wonderfully.
When it came round to doughnut time, there was no point in sharing. The dark chocolate doughnut was delightfully easy to eat, yet that rich creamy filling was so rich and light at the same time. So light, I ate the matcha doughnut right after. This cream had notes of nutty matcha but missed the depth I love. After that chocolate beauty, the matcha was good but not life-changing good.
Mind you, I’ve polished off almost three servings of sweets and everything was so light, I didn’t realised I spoilt my appetite for dinner. But my heart was so full, it was worth the car ride.
Next time, I’ll get that Paris Brest and 2 dark chocolate doughnuts for a meal, and a few extra for tea and the next...
Read moreThe first time I came here was for a meeting, and I had the Iced Matcha Latte. I really liked it and made it a point to come again. I really enjoy the environment to get my work done as it is really comfortable to me and the temperature is also just right. Some cafes I have been to are just too cold. Here, despite I wear my usual denim ‘pompom’ shorts and a hoodie, feels very pleasant despite the stainless steel chairs and seating. Also very clean and airy, the smells are not over-powering and I don’t end up smelling like baked goods or coffee like you know when you leave McD’s, people KNOW you were just there. Alright, on top of really enjoying their Iced Matcha Latte, I have tried and really liked their Iced Capuccino as well. I had their Doughnuts (Mango Passion and Homemade Nutella) and I really REALLY enjoyed the Mango Passion one that I went again (today). With the second round of Mango Passion Doughnut, I also had the Almond Croissant. Very delicious to my liking. The Croissant was not too flaky and just had the right amount of fluff yet crispness to it. Last but not least, I must not forget to shoutout the lovely staff SARAH who made my last two visits so welcoming and pleasant that I DO want to come again. Side note : I also saw the Boss today. Dude, why so moody? Come… I give you stellar review! Have a great day everyone, and please do make a visit to this lovely cafe when you come by this...
Read moreFound this place by accident while looking for macaron near Plaza Damas. While the name of this Patisserie means small yellow banana in Latin, rest assured that all the bread & pastry are very French.Having a local,French trained shoux pastry chef makes the all the difference in this small patisserie. They may not have a very extensive selection but it does compensate with the amazing bread & pastries that they offer.Bought a lot of stuff but the paris brest & the French doughnuts are my favorite. The Paris Brest is absolutely exquisite made to perfection. This might sound like exaggeration but the Paris Brest, rivals the Paris Brest from Odette & Popelini in Paris. The pistachio doughnuts are one of the best i had amongst all the bakery and pastries shop in Malaysia. It has that French cruller texture rather than your typical doughnut dough. The pistachios filling is just texturedly smooth with a hint of caramel that mimic the the pistachios filling from Cedric Grolet. Will definitely come back on the weekends to try their weekend specials.A massive thanks to their wonderful staff that is very knowledgeable and very polite in assisting us on choosing our bread & pastries.Milleurs voeux...
