Disappointing Experience – Twice is Enough

I had high hopes for this cafe, given its beautiful location, but unfortunately, the service and overall experience were a complete letdown—both times. From the moment we walked in, there was no warm greeting, no sense of hospitality, just an unwelcoming atmosphere.

We ordered the Multi-Fruit Tart. While the fruits were fresh and the tart shell was decent, the custard filling was a disappointment—it had a slightly sour taste and lacked the smooth, creamy texture one would expect. In fact, you could tell from the rough appearance that it wasn’t well-made. We couldn’t even finish it, yet the staff didn’t bother to ask if something was wrong.

Next, we tried their Afternoon Tea Set, which came with coffee (or tea), two macarons, a slice of chocolate cake, and a crème Brulee. The Crème Brulee was the only saving grace—it was rich and enjoyable. The macarons, however, were poorly made, lacking the signature airy texture and delicate flavor. They felt dense and unrefined. As for the chocolate cake, it tasted more like flour than actual chocolate cake, completely missing the deep, indulgent cocoa richness.

Service & Cleanliness

Service was another major issue. When our Multi-Fruit Tart was served, the plate was visibly dirty—how could a restaurant serve food on an unclean plate? The waiter placed it on the table carelessly, almost causing the tart to topple over. This level of negligence is unacceptable for a café in such a prime location.

To make matters worse, when we asked for an invoice, it took forever. Despite requesting it while paying, the staff completely ignored us until we had to ask again. This lack of efficiency and attentiveness was incredibly frustrating.

This was actually my second visit to this café. I had hoped that their service might have improved over time, but sadly, nothing had changed. It’s not just one staff member—it seems to be an issue with the entire team. The lack of proper training, attention to detail, and customer service is evident.

I sincerely hope the owner takes this feedback seriously and invests in staff training, particularly in hospitality and service etiquette. A café with such a great location deserves much...

Changing my previous rating from 4 to 3. While the food may be ok, it took longer than expected for something as simple as a plain omelette and arriving cold, felt like it was too expensive for its worth. It wasn’t just the food arriving cold that bothered me, it was the service by our attending guy which was abysmal. We arrived, waited to be seated and saw a few open but he was so nonchalant as if we weren’t there, and then I had to ask about our food when it took too long, and when I added butter it came without a butter knife so had to call someone again for the knife, at least the guy with the knife was a bit more attentive. Our attending guy was all over waiting on the table next to us with two tourist and totally ignored us so yeah, paying for the same food, same price, but haven’t felt being treated this horribly since my last root canal treatment!. I suggest they wear name tags so some would be on their best behaviour otherwise it’ll just misrepresent Paul, but then again, Paul is from France so maybe it’s in their handbook 🤦🏻‍♀️ (21 July 2024)

Paul is a very popular cafe for travellers for its pastries. Wherever you travel in a European country you’ll find a branch. This Paul branch in Pavilion is big unfortunately when we arrived at 11 am they hadn’t yet opened up the restaurant part and so there was a waiting line. As I’ve described they are famous for their pastry which is why I’d have to say their croissant was delectable, buttery and they do use French butter. Cost is a bit more expensive than our normal croissant at Starbucks or SF by at least RM2. It’s a four because the coffee was a bit diluted but their orange juice was yummy. The breakfast was eggs Benedict truffle and salmon avocado sandwich, which were both for me just ok, I think Kenny hills and Dolly’s serve better batches of these. But it’s ok for light coffee and to get access to an abundance...

Absolutely disgusted with what I ordered for such a formidable so called authentic French patisserie Granted as expected the pastries are very good from my previous orders, as I live locally and have frequented this establishment and others on many occasions. However today I ordered the avocado toast with egg and it was absolutely dismal!!!! They “spread” a thin layer of avocado whatever! on soft soggy thinnest sliced bread that was barley toasted on the bottom with two poached eggs and a dismal looking bit of dead dried-out rocket salad at a cost of RM33, I couldn’t have been more disappointed and you could clearly see it was get you in and get you out as quickly as possible mentality the whole time!! The Chef should absolutely be fired for such a pathetic attempt at such an easy dish to prepare and serve!!! How could they let that out of their kitchen??? God knows who’s working in the back!!! I absolutely will never dine in again, I’m so disappointed!!! Take a look for yourself everyone!!! it absolutely speaks for itself!!! The picture doesn’t lie!!!! And before you respond with the standard run of the mill response, I have already responded to your feedback site!!! What I expect from you is to serve me that Dish again but this time do it properly, professionally and by the looks of other comments here do it with the sincerity that all your customers deserve!!! It’s not just the kleptocracy that should get excellent service it’s the people who keep your lights on that also deserve it too!!!! Hopefully my comment will reach as many people as possible as I’ve gone through all your comments on here and you have done absolutely NOTHING to improve!!! Pathetic you should be ashamed!… The other Photo I posted as clearly stated is from Yin’s sourdough Bakery at Mid-Valley Mall I think the difference between the two speaks volumes to what Avocado Toast should look like! I’ll let the Public be...
