A European restaurant in a not-so busy mall. Ekocheras don't usually have busy crowds, so no reservations are required. The waiter was very welcoming when we arrived. Service was superb & they're super attentive too. Quite a hidden gem, I'd say.
Mushroom truffle pizza 8/10 : Thin crust, woodfire pizza. Strong truffle taste with abundance of mushrooms. This pizza is by far one of the best pizzas out of so many restaurants/Deli's I've been.
Carbonara smoke bacon spaghetti 13/10 : The spagetti was handmade, so there's a nice chew to it. And it is SO GOOD!!! The bacons were thick and juicy. The sauce was definitely from egg yolk and not cream. I'm very keen when it comes to carbonara & i only go for carbonara that's done with traditional italian sauce (with eggyolks). So this dish really punched me in the face when I had it 🤤 IT IS A MUST TRY and recommend to share.
Grassfed ribeye steak medium rare 7.8/10 : Cooked medium rare, and overall, the dish was nice. The beefy taste wasn't rich enough (my preference is heavy beefy taste), and I wished they had more roasted vegetables, though. But overall, it is still a nice dish!
Grilled homemade sausage 12/10 : Another star dish that's must try!!!🤩 Hand-grinded meat stuffed inside sausage casing. You can truly taste the skillfully handmade sauage. The meat melted in my mouth, and it was so tender, so moist. You could choose sauces for this dish. I chose the mustard cream, and WOW, it is amazing. This dish just left me speechless. The pickled onion on the side also helps to clean the pallete each time.
Bacon & orange salad 7/10 : A nice salad with orange slices that are not sour. Chopped walnuts and croutons for a nice crunch. Big crunks of bacon slices. Overall, it was a refreshing salad, but it's just missing a little bit more balsamic vinegar sauce. 😊
Mushroom soup 7/10 : Very nice soup full of white button mushrooms. Not too creamy, not too soupy. Just right. For me, it's lacking the brown mushroom umami taste. It is still very nice, though. My family chose this over the French onion soup. Haha
French Onion soup 8.5/10 : I've always wanted to try French onion soup. Lucky for me, this restaurant served it, and it did not disappoint! The soup had a distinct sweet taste from the caramelized onion with a little hint of bitterness from alcohol. (Not sure which alcohol they used to deglaze it, either red wine or brandy?). I really appreciate the waiteress letting us know to be careful as the dish was piping hot when it came out. Because I know the soup required melting the cheese in the oven, but most people wouldn't know it. So, extra points for the team for being so considerate! 😊👍👍
Muddy spell 10/10 : A chocolate drink, with Bailey's and milk froth. The rich, good quality chocolate paired with Baileys was really, really nice. The subtle sweetness yet not overpowering alcohol really hits the spot.
Ice lemon tea 9/10 : Finally an ice lemon tea with real tea inside. Some places don't even have the tea taste. You can taste the real lemon tea in this drink. Also not too sweet.
Bunny 8.5/10 : A cute yet refreshing dessert. Can taste the zesty orange and the fruits inside. The cake inside isn't dry too.
Overall, my family and I had a really pleasant dinner here. I'll definitely come back for the carbonara, sausage & Muddy spell again! Also, want to try other dishes here. The salmon seafood rice looked really good on the menu too. And some other cute looking pastries!
I'm surprised this restaurant didn't have 5 stars because it really deserves it. Keep up the...
Read moreHad very bad experiences visiting Taste by Champignons twice in a week.
The restaurant serves wine so it is considered to be in between a fine dining and casual dining restaurant. But seriously with such service and attitudes it is better to eat at a fast food restaurant. But get this! Their food is NOT fast.
On Friday, I took away lunch from Taste. Set lunch comes with free salad or soup. The waitress told me it was their own in-house made mushroom soup, so I decided to choose the soup. However, after returning to the office and eating the food only I realised they had given me spinach soup. The takeaway food taste ok but their sauces are too watery and have no taste.
2 days later, I decided to give them a second chance and try their weekend Roast special - Porchetta. I was told that on different weekends they alternate between Porchetta and Ribs. I confirmed with the Chef on Friday (when I took away lunch) that this weekend it would be Porchetta.
Thus I brought my family on the weekend specially to try the Porchetta roast but guess what, the weekend menu changed to short ribs. I was told by the person in charge, the kitchen decided to change the menu. I believe it was the Manager and he was simply unprofessional and did not even offer an apology or give further explanations. What is the point of me asking on Friday then? Basically no point. The word of the Chef or waitress or manager is useless. There is no communication within the restaurant itself.
The Manager very unwillingly said ‘sorry’ because I was clearly upset that my weekend lunch plans had been spoiled. When I told him I was just going to order food from the à la carte menu, he just walked away and passed another waitress to take the order without informing me. How rude and unbecoming of a restaurant manager.
Unfortunately, my troubles did not end there. I ordered a pizza, salad, french fries, two pasta dishes and grilled chicken. They served us the pizza, salad and french fries all within 10 minutes gap of each other, after that I had to wait for another 30 minutes before the pasta dishes arrived. When serving a big group (more than 5 pax), should the restaurant not serve the food almost together so we can enjoy eating together? Or are we expected to have some diners eat and finish first, while we wait for the rest of the food and watch the balanced diners eat then.
While the food and price is just average, I rate the service (especially the manager or person-in-charge) terrible. Initially I thought of trying their very pretty desserts but after being disappointed by them (twice!) I don’t think I will ever be back. I think they are still new in food service industry and lack the experience in...
Read more2nd time to this restaurant.last times was dinner but breakfast for two this time. Recommend my sis to here but she felt dissapointed of the service. We had order their breakfast and wanna order extra salad. Unfortunately the waiter told us it's not serve on this hour.everything in the menu only can order start from lunch time.
