I wouldn't recommend having afternoon tea here if you are expecting good service and delicious desserts. For a 5-star hotel afternoon tea lounge, service was atrocious to begin with. A table that arrived later had their tea served before us and the small table provided for our group of 4 barely had space to fit 2 tiered sets, which was pretty embarrassing. It was also frustrating to constantly call the waiter as they were hardly attentive and definitely not pro-active. Perhaps this was due to lack of staff - of which is something that ought to be looked at by the management during this peak festive season.
The tea served was badly pre-brewed and served without tea leaves in the pot - leaving it bland akin to drinking water. I had the Earl Grey Tea as my first pick but had to request for a change to the Royal Breakfast as the Earl Grey had neither scent nor taste. The Royal Breakfast was barely an improvement as that too was rather bland, just not as bad as the Earl Grey. Please review your tea sommelier as the tea was brewed badly across the menu according to my 3 guests.
As for the Christmas afternoon tea set, the sweets featured a disappointing one-dimension taste with mostly mousse and cream-based desserts, with no pastries. The overall tiered set lacked texture and variety, only saved by the fluffy scones which were thankfully served with clotted cream and housemade jam (I was worried per a review where whipped cream was given!). I'll give it 1-star for the effort made in the dessert's presentation and scones, but 0-stars for taste, texture, and variety.
The additional star would be for the toppings on the refillable savoury canapés (the bread used honestly felt like your regular old Massimo/Gardenia bread...) and slight improvement in service after the tiered sets were served. However, I wouldn't return for afternoon tea as the taste and disappointing service do not justify the hefty price.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea in St Regis Singapore, the St Regis here in Kuala Lumpur was a complete disaster and...
Read moreWent there for Christmas High Tea, it was really expensive. Was about rm650 for 4 persons. For the food quality, definitely wasn't on par for the price. However ambient and environment was good. No view at all though just at the Ground Floor
The place was very small, unlike what we see on social media etc, so it was really packed without much social distancing as it was all full, we and other customers tables were very close to each other which was what I did not like about.
We were one of the first to arrive and after we sat down no staff had attended to us nor taking our orders for approx 20-25 minutes. Sooner those people that arrived later than us even gotten their teas and food serving up already, we had to call the staff so many times to take our orders but we were ignored. Later on it was explained that we had to view the menu online and then call for the staff for orders, but the staff did not tell us nor guide us that we should view our menu online and had us waiting for so long they did not even bother! For the kind of price we are paying, I certainly do not think we deserve services like that
We had 4 guests but they assigned us to a 2 guests table that is struggling to place all our food it was so hard to move even we had to put all our cups and teapots on the side of the horse statue LOL
Scones were awful, even Berry's bakery scones tasted much better than that rubbish. Food was ok, nothing much to shout about.
Worst thing is that they only give customers 2 hours to dine in because they separate the high tea sessions to 2 different sessions to make more bucks, unlike other hotels, they provide customers at least 3-5 hours for high tea which gives us more quality time for meet-ups with friends etc instead of rushing lol
Btw parking has no lights and was expensive for a short time, no discount for diners
Overall price is way too expensive for the kind of food and service you're giving customers. If you want to charge that kind of price, you definitely...
Read moreBeen there physically and it was a nice ambience to sit down and have a catch-up session.
During MCO (or whatever name you want to called it), they have this mother's day high-tea set that can be deliver to home. Ordered one. Slightly later than the planned time. Not too fussy on that. Once the package arrived, the food was still in a nice presentable form.
The set comes with tea (well, I supposed teabags since it was delivered to home instead of dining at the hotel). Drop them IG message, ask me to liaise directly with the cafe aka the drawing room (i really don't know what's the function of the hotel IG if it's just a messenger and direct us to it's sub-unit/restaurants/whatsoever). Anyway, called the phone (and PIC I was talking to was Aisha), she was friendly and apologized on the phone and asked me to dropped a proper written message to the same phone (Probably just to have it in B&W). Dropped them a message right after the call.
Nope, nothing hear from them. Tada. Yea, the teabags doesn't cost alot. But it's not about the price. It's just matter of principle. Initially I say no worries then since it's troublesome blah blah blah, but they said they will do something about it - which is nothing. I'm really fine with no action taken IF they didnt said they want to something about it. But no action is taken. That's disappointing. Don't promise/mentioned follow-up action if...
