The Ship Steak House — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

I’ve been dining at The Ship Steakhouse for the past 39 years and it still holds a special place in my heart. Admittedly, I may be a little biased but when you’ve grown up with a restaurant and created so many memories there. It’s hard not to be.

Getting here is always hassle free thanks to their efficient valet service which has become a small luxury I genuinely appreciate. The staff have consistently been welcoming and attentive over the years making every visit feel like coming home.

My must haves every time? The garlic bread toast perfectly crispy and buttery and their crab and shark fin soup. These two are non negotiable. I’ve been ordering them for decades and they’ve never disappointed.

When it comes to steak, I usually rotate between three favorites depending on my mood,the Charbroiled Rib Eye is my top pick for its tenderness and flavor. Close behind are the Charbroiled Sirloin and the Black Mushroom Steak both solid, satisfying options. (All cooked medium)

For drinks, I always go for their vanilla milkshake. It’s not overly sweet, just smooth and creamy almost like a dessert on its own especially after a hearty steak.

Upon entering the premise, you'll be able to smell the furniture that's probably as old as the brand. If you do not order anything, you won't be served that little piece of bread there. It doesn't matter if you mentioned you'll be sharing too. We ordered steak and lamb racks. The beef was bland. The chips accompanying it was seasoned unevenly. The steamed vegetables were tasteless and watery. The lamb rack was also bland and overly chewy. The sour cream on the also bland potato was mixed with water.

I was only there because a colleague brought me there. Though the interior and uniforms suited the theme very well, along with the buzzing sound when food was ready, I won't be returning unless they revamp every single thing there. A face lift and quality control of the food is desperately needed!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that they microwaved the soup. Microwaved! Hot tableware = Microwaved. I accidentally and minorly burnt my pinkie when reaching for food from my colleague's plate where the soup...

My hubby & i ordered Lamb Chop & steak respectively on Saturday 4th of April. It was the worst dinner we had!!! The pepper sauce was so thick & had horrible taste & the meat was cold & the taste was disgusting!!! Even the drink (ice lemon tea) i ordered was so sweet & terrible. I think i can make better ice lemon tea. The standard & the quality of food & drink in The Ship has stooped extremely low. Its a shame!!! The place was so warm & the staff could barely speak proper english!!! We were extremely disappointed & when i relayed my utter disappointment to one captain Miss Pam. She could only give me a surprise look & can even reply " thats why I told you don't take that minute steak one...its not good one" when i asked her to explain about the lamb chop & drink , she was blank. Not one word of sorry. My goodness how professional can this be!!! They did not charge me for the steak but my dinner & appetite was spoilt!!!!
