I took some time to think before writing this because I wanted to be honest and fair. Unfortunately, the experience at this wagyu yakiniku restaurant was really disappointing.
The entire vibe felt off from the start. The service had serious guru besar energy: overly strict, constantly reminding us of rules, and it made the whole meal feel tense instead of enjoyable. We had a 6:30 PM reservation for four. Two of us arrived earlier first, and I KID YOU NOT at 6:32, a staff member already came over to ask where the other two were and told us to call them because of the dining time limit. That was the first interaction. Not a welcome, not a smile, just a warning about the time.
It’s all-you-can-eat with a time limit, which we understood. But it was honestly one of the slowest yakiniku places I’ve been to. Food came out slowly and in inconsistent batches, which completely messed up the flow of our meal. We’d be waiting for long gaps between dishes, a lot of time is spent being hungry and by the time some items arrived, we were already hungry again.
The staff also kept repeating their rules throughout the dinner, even in between courses. Every time we tried to order, they would warn us not to order too much, even though we knew how much we could eat. Two people in our group are bodybuilders and knew their limits. We didn’t appreciate being talked to like we have never been to a yakiniku buffet?
Towards the end, they told us it's last call and asked us to order all desserts at once. When we did, a man in a white shirt, who seemed to be the owner, made a remark in Chinese saying we ordered so much ice cream we could "eat until we die". While we spoke English at the table and we are mixed race group, two of us understood Chinese and overheard the comment. It left a really bad taste in our mouths.
At the end of the meal, we were told they charge for food wastage but they will not be charging out, out of a kind gesture. This was not communicated during the WhatsApp booking. Because of how slow the food came, we ended up with just half a plate of wagyu left. But I'll take accountability for this, if we had known we would've just finished. Everything else, including all the ice cream, was fully eaten.
I guess the affordable price is why the service felt so rigid, but that should never be an excuse. And also why the meat just really doesn't taste like A5 wagyu, doesn't melt in your mouth and tastes old? The food was average to below average and not worth putting up with the entire experience. It felt less like a dinner out and more like being students in a strict school canteen.
Just a heads-up for anyone considering this place. I also didn't take more photos cause I didn't want to as I was not...
Read moreWas visiting Malaysia recently and heard about this new opening at TRX within Seibu and was pleasantly surprised by the concept: Premium yet accessible Japanese Wagyu that's halal certified - it's not something I have come across before.
I had the Wagyu buffet with a friend and was really impressed by the quality and selection of cuts available. My favourite has to be the rib and brisket! Rich and well marbled with a good meaty flavour! There's a range of different sauces and a la carte menu items to complement everything as well. I loved the Wasabi salt and Garlic fried rice - these items went well with everything! I also ordered the unlimited drinks package and I liked that you can select different options ie you aren't restricted to just one drink. The Yuzu highball and Kirin were my go-tos as the former is a little sweet tasting to offset the saltiness of the food and the beer helps refresh the palate between the richness of the meat.
I noticed that the grill was super powerful and was able to cook things quickly. Service was prompt and extremely attentive - special mention goes towards Lex for his extra attention to detail and high standard of service throughout our dinner service which I greatly appreciated.
This outlet feels chic but is a bit on the small side, therefore I would say it is best suited to smaller groups or couples looking for an upmarket yet relaxed dining option. Would love to revisit with some friends/family members if I...
Read moreso, me and my friend went there today during office hours cus we heard that its otrwise crowded with long queues during weekends. i mean i would understand why now. cus the wagyu cuts and their service is top notch. ive had my fair share of wagyu at almost all the good places in kl and selangor and my fav would be the wagyu steak in nobu. but now, it would be this place and nobu! they are honest in serving their wagyu cuts. there were only two occupied tables (incl ours) whilst we were there so it was rather a good and comfortable ambiance for us. the waiter especially, (im sorry for not getting your name) but the one who welcomed and served us was really good at explaining and recommending what would be good for us. we were there at ard 12pm plus on 18.07.2025 and i was the one whom you served the birthday wagyu plate. i feel he deserves praise cus he (and his team) keeps on checking on our table if we needed anything else and if everythg was to our satisfaction. he and his team deserves the credit, though again, im sorry i didnt get your name. i hope your employer sees this and gives you the credit you deserve! haha. thank you so much and keep up...
