08/04: Reply to your claim
Your statement is completely unfounded.
I ate durian in the bathroom around 8 PM, not at 1:20 PM as you falsely claimed. I sealed the durian seeds in a plastic container before throwing them in the trash. What’s more serious is that someone entered my room without permission between 8 and 10 PM. I have photos and videos documenting the entire incident.
I was in Malaysia as an invited guest for an international conference. I spent the entire day at the venue and only returned to the hotel at night.
Your accusation about cigarette residue is absurd. I am a non-smoker, and there were absolutely no cigarette-related items in my room. Claiming otherwise is both false and insulting.
This experience raises serious concerns about the hotel’s professionalism and integrity. Unauthorized entry into a guest’s room and false public statements afterward are simply unacceptable. Hi, I just want to share what was honestly the most terrifying hotel experience I’ve ever had.
I recently stayed at what’s supposed to be a 4-star international hotel, but one night, a staff member entered my room without my permission—just to take photos of some durian peels I had thrown in the trash. No one told me they were coming, and I definitely didn’t give them permission to come in.
After that, they actually locked my room and wouldn’t let me back in unless I paid a fine.
As a first-time visitor to Malaysia, I was shocked when my tour guide told me that eating durian in the room was against hotel policy, and that I’d have to pay a fine of 1,000 ringgit—that’s about 236 U.S. dollars.
What really happened was, around 8 PM, I ate some durian in the bathroom, sealed the leftovers in a plastic container, and threw it in the trash. Later that night, someone from the hotel entered my room without telling me, took photos of the trash as "evidence", and left.
When I came back around 11 PM, I found out my room key no longer worked. At the front desk, they told me I couldn’t go back to my room unless I paid the fine.
The next morning, with help from my tour guide, I was finally allowed to pay it. I explained that no one had told me anything about a no-durian rule when I checked in. The staff just said, “It’s common sense,” and claimed all hotels in Malaysia are the same.
After going back and forth, I ended up paying 800 ringgit—about 200 U.S. dollars.
What’s worse is that the hotel staff tried to say they entered my room because housekeeping was cleaning. But that doesn’t make sense—my room had already been cleaned earlier that day. No proper 4-star hotel sends housekeeping into a room unannounced at 9 PM.
They also said someone reported a durian smell, which is why they entered. But if that’s true, and they already found the durian waste and took photos, why didn’t they just clean it up then? Why leave it to rot?
Honestly, the whole thing made me feel really unsafe, disrespected, and disappointed. This is not how any hotel—especially one claiming to be international and 4-star—should treat guests, especially...
Read moreService and check-in are exceptional. It was a really pleasant check-in serviced by Adira for our short getaway last week. We were traveling with two other families (3 separate bookings/rooms) and were unknowingly separated between the hotel and the “residence” next door. Adira listened to our situation and gave us extra access cards so that we could reach each other conveniently. It was an exceptional service extended by her and beyond what we asked for. We are extremely grateful to her thoughtful gesture and impeccable service.
On the rooms, the 2-room apartment (in Residence) is well-equipped. My friend called it a “kitchenette” but to me it is a real kitchen with a real fridge, stove, pot, oven, kettle, 2in1 washer/dryer… is a mini apartment, and was a great size for a family of 5. We believe it could comfortably fit two small families😌 Do note that this is key access like an apartment, not card. There is a rooftop swimming pool with an exceptional view of the city😍 unfortunately this rooftop pool is not kid-friendly at all because it is 1.2m deep.
Over at the hotel, it’s more kid-friendly with baby pool but it’s at level 4. Not much of a view but still great for families. Though we had a room at level 19, there’s not much of any view either. Our room faces the office building next to us🫣 Bathroom amenities are pretty basic for our “Dorsett Room”—standing shower and a small sink with mixer tap. There isn’t really any area in the room suitable for makeup table. Bar fridge, ironing board, honestly pretty basic for a hotel room. Plus point goes to a filter tap fitted at the sink where you can easily access clean, drinking water! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Room service comes by pretty early 😆 Usually around 9:30am, and cleans up decently👏🏻
We didn’t opt for breakfast as it is only a
Read moreI stayed at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur in June 2025 while attending a nearby flower course. I chose the hotel purely for its convenient location, just a 1-minute walk from the course venue. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and upsetting.
Poor Check-In Experience: Upon arrival, we were met with an unwelcoming and rude staff member who questioned us harshly about our late check-in time. This was not the kind of hospitality one would expect from a hotel. We were also given a room that reeked of cigarette smoke despite booking a non-smoking room and also stated to have king size bed in our booking but was given 2 single bed. When we requested a change, the staff simply brushed us off and said the hotel was fully booked, without offering any alternatives or apologies.
Unsafe Premises and Shocking Lack of Support: On 20.06.2025, I had a serious fall just outside the hotel due to a dangerously slippery surface. The flooring had a flat section that transitioned abruptly into a slope, with no warning signs. I slipped, fell hard, and hit my head and was blacked out for a moment — it was a painful and traumatic experience. Shockingly, the staff who came to assist told me that i had to pay cash if I wanted to take an ambulance ride without offering help to call ambulance immediately — this, while I was clearly disoriented with what turned out to be a mild concussion. A course mate witnessed the incident and helped me, and called grab where I underwent hours of scans and checks.
When I returned to the hotel, the security guard simply asked, “You ok already? Can do incident report for us?” — completely devoid of any empathy or concern for my wellbeing. My husband asked if the hotel staff if will offer any compensation after helping them to complete the incident report and the staff attending to him simply just chuckled and said ‘i am just a security guard’ and took the report and went back.
This experience was not only disappointing but outright dangerous and emotionally distressing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if you value safety, professionalism, and basic...
