The waiter spilled fish curry on me. He only knew to say "oops.. sorry sorry..". And then hid himself in the kitchen throughout my dining time, as I did not see him at all after that.
I have never been served at a banana leaf restaurant in such a clumsy and awkward way. This branch of BananaBro is a rare one where it's staffed entirely by locals it seems, but the training by the management must be seriously lacking. I can say the humble banana leaf restaurants manned by foreign workers outside serve curry and side dishes with more finesse, and a quicker turn-around time with the refill requests I feel.
With that said, the craving set is okay but I did not have much appetite to enjoy it after having curry spilled on me. My friend's butter chicken looked sad and pathetic (don't recommend).
And then the cleanliness is questionable with oily, curry stained table, and splotched cushion seats that my friend found tissues leftover from previous patrons on the seat.
I think the seating area is much too cramped, it feels like you may as well be sitting at the same table as the strangers next to you. Its like they fit in far too many tables in such a limited seating area. It's no wonder accidental spills can happen.
There are better restaurants in TRX mall. So if for some reason, you have a dying urge for banana leaf after all the shopping, please save it and find a good one beyond this mall. This branch of BananaBro? I totally can't recommend it, unless you want to have a bad day. I...
Read moreI arrived at a quarter to noon on a Friday. There were only a few tables filled. Easily got a seat but noticed that the seating arrangements were quite close. Orders are made via scanning of QR code. I ordered the choice set and an add on chicken dish. Not long after my drink came. After about 5 minutes, the waitress laid a banana leaf in front of me. Another two minutes later, she scooped some rice for me. Then, my chicken dish arrived. I waited for another two minutes but no one served me the side dishes. I thought the waiter who was serving another table would come to serve me but he didn't. So, I had to call him. I was expecting Rasam and yogurt but none was served. Everyone looked busy no one was actually seeing to the customer and man, this is not even lunch time. I wonder what would the situation be on weekends. After taking a few bits of my food, a waiter placed two papadam on my leaf. I didn't have banana leaf rice for quite a while but I can say this is the worst service wise. The sequence of the food serving is all wrong. Also, when I went to make payment, the cashier told me they didn't have change. So I paid with my e-wallet. I hope the management will look into this. At the end of the day, it is still back to the good old banana leaf stand alone shops in residential areas that those in high end shopping malls that have my vote. Besides, for close to RM30, I could...
Read moreDear Management,
As a regular customer of Banana Bro, I am writing to express my concerns about the service and hygiene issue at the TRX branch.
Firstly, the staff's response is slow, and the food is not promptly prepared for serving. This impacts the overall dining experience. (pumpkin not prepared yet, almost food finish and we ask again the staff only come….)
However, my main concern is about hygiene. At other Banna Bro branches, sauces are served by the staff, but at the TRX branch, they are provided in small containers. I noticed that before cleaning the tables, the sauce containers were messy and dirty, mixed with leftover food and banana leaves from the previous customer. Shockingly, I observed that the staff simply took these containers back to the kitchen and refilled them.
When it was our turn to be served, I saw a staff cleaning the small sauce container with just a tissue just to pretend it was clean. This raises serious concerns about the possibility that these containers might have been used by previous customers, who may have sneezed or used their own utensils on the sauce.
This situation is unacceptable. I hope Banana Bro can address this issue. The banana leaf is a signature element of Malaysian cuisine, and if foreigners visit and see this, it will damage the image of...
