We booked a private room to celebrate my dad’s birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful. Service was great. However they couldn’t save it for the quality of their food.
All the dishes were beautifully presented but I am sad to say everything we had tonight were a huge let down. The BBQ Pork and Crispy Pork Belly Two BBQ Meat Combination Platter 江南烧味双屏 has the most awful taste and texture, they just tasted weird! The Qian Long Tangerine Peel Roast Goose 乾隆陈皮烧鹅 was no better, definitely one of the worst tasting goose I have had. The 30-YEARS ROSE FENJIU SOY SAUCE CHICKEN 三十年玫瑰汾酒豉油鸡comes with a super tough, chewy and skinny chicken without much meat. Even their proudly awarded MICHELIN CRISPY TOFU 米其林脆豆腐was merely a peppery crumbed deep fried tofu which tasted dry and pretty uninteresting.
The ICE SWEET AND SOUR PORK WITH FRESH FRUIT 冰镇鲜果咕咾肉 was ridiculously small in portions, merely an entree size with no more than 10 small meat balls and way too sweet. Why the traditional version was good because the pineapple give a sour taste to counterbalance the sweetness, but here they have replaced the pineapple with sweetened dragon fruit to add more sweetness? Go figure!
The steamed pomfret was the only dish that was just ok.
It has been years since I have been to an expensive restaurant which does not even have even one dish that is good, this is definitely.

Read moreDining in the private area comes with a fixed fee of RM28 per person, which includes tea or iced water. While the initial arrival of the ambiance was disturbed by someone smoking inside, the staff quickly took care of it by clearing the area and spraying de-sanitizer.
The staffs are very patient and polite, but they often forgot our requests for new chopsticks and refills of tea or water. The plating of the food is top-notch, with a high standard of presentation. The taste of the dishes is good, though not exceptional. I didn't enjoy a couple of the dishes, but the roasted meat, beancurd, and steamed goose are worth trying.
The prices are steep—our 8-dish meal, excluding seafood, cost RM1600. For that price, you could get a similar meal with lobsters and crabs at a highly reviewed tourist restaurant in Singapore.
Ultimately, you're paying more for the experience and presentation rather than the taste. Consider carefully if the price and the not-quite-perfect taste are...
Read moreDining experience could be better if the staff more attentive and can understand languages better ( chinese/ english). Food portion acceptable, taste more on the salty side. Fried rice was fragrant and was told it is a 2 person portion, luckily we did not listen. Otherwise would have wasted the food. The salted duck was a bit too hard, so difficult to chew. Golden fried chicken had a promotion now for rm29.9, taste quite ok and the chicken just nice, not too hard. The teapot charge you rm8 per head. White rice was rm8 per bowl as well. Price was $$$. Ambience wise, nothing to comment, was great. Genting...
