Quick lunch on the highlands
I believe that these 3 words need no introduction. The most famous Xiao long bao restaurant from Taiwan has many outlets in Malaysia especially in major shopping complexes.
Their restaurant is located in Genting Highlands, a premier integrated resort comprising hotels, casinos, restaurants, shopping mall as well as the latest Skyworlds Theme Park. Long story short, the family was famished after a long day walking around and we happened to be standing right in front of this restaurant and they had table available.
◾Pork Xiao Long Bao -always love their XLB due to the thinner-than-average skin and savoury pork filling + soup inside. The young ones can easily wallop 3-4 pieces each. ◾Sesame & peanut sauce with shredded pork noodle - ordered this out of curiosity as the "sesame & peanut sauce" intrigued me. It turned out to be wise decision as the sauce proved delicious as I stole a few scoop of the noodle. ◾Egg fried rice - the eldest daughter never fails to order her favourite fried rice filled with egg, wok hei. ◾Sweet & sour pork - at the request of the son who's a huge fan of this dish but the portion was small considering of the price charged. ◾hot & sour soup - the missus wanted something soupy and the soup whetted her appetite especially when mixed with the heavenly vinegar.
Price-wise more expensive than Klang Valley but so are other F&B...

Bad attitude for 2 waiters and 1 foreigner worker.
Walked in to this outlet. After checking the menu, i wanted to find out about the portion size of your fried rice. Saw a guy (worker/cleaner) and asked him in mandarin. He mumbled something, ignored us and proceeded to stand next to an empty table. Perplexed, i asked a waiter instead. He answered my query on the fried rice. I quized him on why the worker ignored me, the waiter told me he is a外劳. He too walked away.
10 mins later, we have ticked my orders ready. I tried to signal the same waiter to pass him my order but either he ignore me or he was busy clearing the table. A few mins later, another waiter ushered in two new guests and proceeded to seat them. I signaled to this waiter that i have my order paper ready. He merely showed me the traffic police stop signal.
Frustrated we decided to walk out. The lady manager apologised and wanted to reseat us. I told her off. I got money to spend and there are other Chinese restaurants around in genting.
If u guys got CCTV, we are a couple seated near to the indoor amusement park. This will help you identify the staff that rendered such a deplorable service.
Edit: i have already left my feedback/contacts on your...
Read moreI always find Din Tai Fung lacks consistency with their food. This outlet was better than I expected. Came in around 12.30pm with no waiting time on a weekday. Restaurant is spacious, with both indoor and 'outdoor' seating. Ordered the 小菜 and crispy golden prawn pancake as appetizers. They were good, except that the pancake was on the oilier side. Xiao Long Bao was delicious. Soup to meat ratio was perfect. Add in the ginger slices to enhance the flavour of the dumplings. Pork fried rice was one of the best I've eaten in Din Tai Fung Genting. Pork chops were soft and juicy, unlike other outlets, which were salty and hard. You can't go wrong with the fried rice ofc. Stir-fried spinach is straightforward. Nothing special. Spicy hot and sour soup was average. Lack of balance in flavour. Taste slightly better with the help of vinegar. Love the massive amount of bean curd strips and black fungus though. Chicken Soup was a letdown. Chicken meat was not fresh at all. Tough to bite. Soup is not piping hot upon reaching my table. Not recommend. Overall I enjoyed the food here at Genting Din Tai Fung. Food portions and service provided were acceptable. Prices of some of their dishes are on the higher side considering the size; they are not exactly...
