Read moreYoung Chinese man at counter was rude & arrogant. Your shop might be famous but that does not mean you can treat your customers badly. There are many products & I had asked what filling was inside one of them, as you can't tell just by looking at the outside, plus there was no label on that particular product. I had looked at several other confectioneries in the shop after that and was finalising my purchase. I asked again what was the filling inside the biscuit a second time, as I couldnt remember, and this young insolent man said in an irritated tone, "I already told you just now". I feel that is not the right way a front counter staff should be acting, as he may be familiar with the products as he works there, but not all the customers are regulars and know the products well. I will definitely reconsider going to your shop the next time I am in town, due to my...
Read moreKedai Biskut Guan Heong is one of Ipoh’s most iconic traditional biscuit shops, well-loved by locals and visitors alike. Established with a long history, the shop is most famous for its signature maltose biscuits, also known as heong peng in Cantonese. These biscuits are flaky, aromatic, and filled with a sweet, sticky maltose center that makes them truly addictive. Apart from heong peng, the shop offers a wide variety of other delights such as wife biscuits, egg tarts, kaya puffs, peanut biscuits, and even coffee-flavored treats, ensuring there is something to suit every taste.
One of the highlights of visiting Guan Heong is its balance of tradition and comfort. The shop is air-conditioned, making it a pleasant place to browse, even on hot days. Prices are fair, making the products not only tasty but also excellent value for money. A unique feature is the open kitchen area, where customers can see workers preparing biscuits fresh by hand. This adds to the charm and assures the quality and authenticity of the baked goods.
Whether you’re buying as souvenirs or simply indulging yourself, Kedai Biskut Guan Heong delivers a nostalgic yet satisfying taste of Ipoh’s culinary heritage that continues to stand the...
