The service staff is more interested in watching Tiktok and singing rock kapak song rather than to be standby for service. I had to go up to them at the counter where all 5 of them gathered to watch Tiktok/Instagram, singing that I have arrived and ready to place my order. Yes, that is where your service charge is going.
If it's not because of the heavy rain, I would've gone elsewhere already.
Anyway, I saw mixed reviews but mostly good reviews so I thought why not, screw the service staff and just eat je la.
The chicken itself - the thigh I ordered was well cooked to the right doneness and well seasoned. I have no problem there. It was good. However the chicken breast was slightly overcooked.
The Taugeh - well, it was good. Happy about it.
The rice - this is where they screw up the dish as whole. The rice was slightly undercooked and probably used a below average quality rice. Probably cooked with some chicken stock, lots of water and a pinch of salt for the whole pot of it. It was tasteless. Massive screw up here.
After my experience here, I would suggest the owner to just close down this business. Don't bother running a F&B business if you are not passionate about it. The service & food received reflects what the owner of this business is about - lacks motivation to run a restaurant. I'd suggest for you to invest in someone who is passionate & motivated to run this place, give him some shares and a good salary....
Read moreThis is my second time, unfortunately going to be my last. Totally different from my previous visit. I initially wonder why such a quiet scene when it was a dinner time. Stepped in with an ice cold welcome. The first impression already set the bad tone. No greetings, no usher in, no recommendation, just nothing. The "over staff" hang around the counter chatting among themselves. Truth revealed from the first sight when the food arrived. Ordered roasted as well as steamed chicken with add-on fried bean sprouts with salted fish. Firstly the roasted chicken was dried and tough, the texture is so pale and not aromatic at all. The worst is the steamed chicken. It's so tasteless and cold. It's like chicken meant for stocks. Not to mention the bean sprouts. It's supposed to be fried with salted fish unfortunately, and can only notice not more than 3-4 small pieces. It is either a change of chef or the main chef away during this festival period. The final straw was the last cashier who didn't give a damn and spoke to the waiter rudely. I don't think she knows that foreigners may not be fluent or knowledgeable as yet to collect order. Ita a disgrace to even call this Hainan. Even CRS is far more superior compared to the quality...
Read moreHainan style chicken rice is a favourite dish of mine since I was small. So, I always do my best to come here whenever I visit Ipoh as it is not easy to find halal hainanese roasted chicken rice in Penang.
Taste is authentic hainan style. Roasted chicken is what I usually ordered here. The taste of the roasted chicken is consistent as when I first came here 7-8 years ago. Chilli condiment was decent, soup is less salty but is still okay to have a sip. The rice wasn't as aromatic as before and was a bit soggy when I ate here on my most recent visit. Could certainly raise up the quality since the price has also risen.
Iced white coffee was also decent although could certainly be improved as the drink is not cheap. I've tasted better iced white coffee elsewhere with cheaper price.
The place is clean but in recent visit the sink tap to wash your hands is out of order. Hope they could fix it as to make it more convenient to...
