Sin Lean Lee (新联利) restaurant. A highly recommended coffee shop in Old Town, Ipoh to take your breakfast due to its variety and quality of food. To name a few: chee cheong fun, Penang laksa, toasted bread, etc. Always on my mind is to order fried kway teow. This stall, obviously the most popular here, has a unique way of stir-frying to produce a moist, slimy variation. Another stall serves aromatic glutinous rice with sweet kaya. Too bad they don't take the trouble to colour the rice blue with butterfly-pea flower. The coffee and Chinese tea brewed here are good enough to complement your breakfast. As dessert, get some egg tarts (original as well as pandan flavour) as takeaway from Egg Tarts King stall (All Inn Café) just across the road. Updates: Sin Lean Lee (新联利) restaurant has now shifted to another nearby location. Its old corner premise is now managed by Kin Kok (建国) coffee shop after a major renovation. The popular fried kway teow stall now operates in Kin Kok. The Egg Tarts King stall has shifted to...

Introduced to this stall by my late father. Had been eating from this stall for the past 60 years. Less frequent going to this stall now since old town became a tourist spot and finding a place to park became such a difficult task. Today made an early wake up and make sure I was there by 7.45am before banks and other shops opened for business. Still the same taste that was long ingrained in my brain. Like their sliced beef soup. It was superb. The lady that used to do the cooking is now semi-retired, though still helping around the store. She can still recognised me. 7/10/2023 Saturday This was the stall that I was eating since childhood days. Father used to stop by this stall whenever he was in Ipoh. Father had a good tin miner friend who also used to bring us beef collagen balls from this stall whenever he came visiting with his wife. So visiting this stall brought back a lot of nostalgia memories for me. However this round, price had increased. Used to pay RM16, now had to pay RM21 for the same...

As a local, I come to Restoran Sin Lean Lee every single week without fail — that’s how much I love this place.

Note: They sell ONLY beef brisket noodle.

And their beef brisket noodle soup isn’t just a dish; it’s an institution! Tender brisket, soft radish, flavourful broth, and silky noodles — simple, honest, and absolutely unforgettable.

Not many F&B businesses can survive, let alone thrive, on just one signature dish for over 30+ years. Sin Lean Lee is one of the few remaining icons in Ipoh, and it’s a treasure.

And I have to give a special shout-out to the kopi peng — it’s so good I always have two with my meal and one more to go. That’s right, three coffees per visit, and no regrets!

It’s not just the food or drinks — it’s the people, the atmosphere, the history. This is the kind of old-school eatery that reminds you why we keep coming back.

Highly, highly...
