Review: A Letdown Despite Good Ambiance

I stumbled upon this spot while wandering through the mall and decided to give it a try. Here’s how it fared:

🌤 Atmosphere: 4/5 The setting is inviting, with full air-conditioning and plenty of natural light pouring in. The tasteful decor creates a comfortable and relaxing dining environment that’s hard to fault.

🍴 Service: 4/5 Service was efficient and professional. The waiter promptly handed me the menu upon arrival, making a strong first impression. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t meet expectations.

🍽 Food Highlights: 2.9/5

• Wan Tan Mee with Wan Tan (2.5/5) – RM16.90 The noodles were Hong Kong-style thin egg noodles with decent texture but lacked the springiness or depth of flavor typical of good wan tan mee. The five wan tans were passable but not memorable, lacking seasoning and juiciness. It’s edible but ultimately forgettable. • Ipoh Hor Fun with Steamed Chicken (1/5) – RM15.90 This dish was a disappointment. The steamed chicken was dry, bland, and served as a wing portion—mostly bones with very little meat. The hor fun noodles lacked the silky smoothness characteristic of authentic Ipoh-style noodles, making the entire dish underwhelming. • Kopi Ice (2/5) – RM4.60 Only available on weekdays, this drink isn’t a steal, but it’s better than nothing. The kopi ice was mediocre—neither terrible nor impressive—but lacked the boldness and richness you’d expect from a well-brewed coffee.

💰 Price: 2/5 The prices are on the higher side considering the lackluster food quality. It felt overpriced and failed to justify the cost.

🏠 Final Thoughts Would I return? Probably not. While the ambiance and service are commendable, the food doesn’t measure up, especially given the price. With so many better dining options in the mall, I’d recommend exploring elsewhere.

It was really my first time here after a total revamp of their LG floor. The restaurant is just located at the end of the round corridor on your left hand side when you walk from Tesco. Menu design was quite straightforward, it's Non halal, one of the reason why I want to give it a try. I hope no one's here get cheated by the photo of their menu, LOL, jokes aside. Initially thought of taking only the kaya puff with the white coffee set as my late lunch since it's close to tea time, but my daughter and my wife wants to have something wholesome, I ordered a dried noodle with fried Yong tau fu for my wife and daughter to share, I got myself a sweet and sour pork with rice, so that my daughter get to taste it too. White coffee perfect, not too sweet. The sweet and sour pork was nothing special compare to the generic hawker stall although it was featured in full sized page in the menu. The noodle taste just normal according to my wife. Comparative to hawker stall, my ratings would go for the comfortable of having my meal, the price charged extra for the air con and the cleanliness. Not forgetting the 16% tax you need to bear yourself. Last but not least, support them because they take up the initiative to offer our OKU friends 50% discount when dining with them during...

Ordered Ipoh hot fun - RM12.90 Not worth it all . Ingredient is miserly given . Given the price tag , quality and quantity is expected for such simple food . And how could the prawn shell not be removed for this dish. That’s ridiculous !!!! If a basic food stall can peel the shell at half the price I pay, I see no reason , given the price tag, this shop chef cannot even be bother with peeling the prawn shell.

Kaya puff- RM 2. Many people ordered . So I ordered 1 to try . Pastry 1/5, Kaya sweetness 2/5(for sweet tooth lover , theory will rate it 5/5), Kaya fragrance- 1/5( no kaya authenticity) So the questioned to why so many people ordered , I guess they do have really strong sweet tooth but lack the ability to differentiate the quality of a good pastry .

The Ipoh ice white coffee I ordered was asked to reduce the milk amount . 4/5 for the overall drinking pleasure . I left out 1 point for the drink due to the heavily bombardment used of ice .

If not for the ice coffee, I would have given an overall score of 1 out of the 5 star .

Probability of me going back for the food -0%

A very good place to enjoy Ipoh street or home cook dishes. They served from typical dim sum and breakfast toast and boiled egg to stew soup and a lar cart stir fried dishes combination with individual rice. Recommended place to enjoy Ipoh Chinese style food from breakfast to dinner with family and friends. Tried the rice roll Ipoh style, which the put red sweet paste instead. Besides, they added green chili slides to add up some spice and fried onion for crunchiness. Maybe is Ipoh style but i totally like it. It made the plain rice roll flavour become interesting. Because mostly rice roll tastes depends on the sauce and extra ingredient like yong tau fu or sausage. The Tao pok and dumpling also nicely fried, crispy and rich in content. The sauce for the fried dim sum also is sour hot sauce and is not too spicy which very different from what taste at KV areas. The service also good as the staff will come ask about the dishes serving status even prepared calling button on each tables.
