On the the table is quarter roasted chicken with small portion of roast and barbecue pork (RM44).
Their specialty here is the steam chicken but at 11.45am, I am out of luck as only the wings were left. The service was good with the servers very old school attentive and able to converse in many Chinese dialects and English.
After 10 minutes, the dish arrives. Now this is not the piping hot just roasted kind of chicken. The dishes are room temperature with the rice and soup the only items piping hot.
Here is what I liked, the accompanying garlic chilli is good. Really garlicky and is proper accompanying sauce. The rice is the heavier grain so you get really loaded fast. The chicken is tender and the pieces are a good size.
The roast pork, I prefer to be thicker and just feels like proper roast pork. I didn't dig the barbeque pork, it felt average at best and the caramelized sauce was incredibly sweet.
Overall I wouldn't say it's bad or average; they have a really good client base and that must mean something. This is as old school as you can get.
Ban Huat Heng Kopitiam is located in Happy Mansion Section 17 where the parking is really hard on bad days as they are located within an apartment complex.

Rice is well-cooked but a bit too brown and oily feel. The sauce that came with the chicken was taste of salty and oily combo. If it comes with the ginger purée then I expected some coriander x spring onion garnish on my chicken (missing).
Overall, I don’t find the kick and balance that would have made my chicken rice experience a 9/10.
Today it was nice and breezy tho, so the atmosphere was nice. Coffee was nice tho’ - “kopi less sweet”.
But, I’d come back for the char siu 😍 - good level of sweet and juiciness. Some parts melt in the mouth, some good chewing texture. I’d recommend an upgrade in the chilli sauce - some acidity to balance out the fatty and oiliness for the food on the plates.
The cencaru fish looked so good tho’ maybe next time ‘cos it’s a rare sight for me! Haven’t had it in a while.

It took 45 minutes to served prepared food, the orders arrive wrongly, it was uninterestingly presented and honestly tasted just mediocre. And for all that, it was sold out as we were finishing our meals, eager patrons had their show in disappointment.
This is confusing. Why?
Perhaps I came at a wrong timing, I honestly will give it another try just for a benefit of doubt but for my first impression it deserves a low rating at least for now.

Came again to give this place another chance. The very talked about Chicken Rice in PJ.
Any good?
Brittle chicken with poor texture. Roast pork was tough, dry and skin not crispy. BBQ pork is not bad. Sprouts very soggy and seemed over cooked. Messed up drink orders and a dished ordered never arrive. The waiters were friendly however putting the service aside it's downright a 1 out of 5.
Did I like anything about it? The free soup pretty tasty and you can scoop generous portions of chicken feet...
