TL;DR: Over Hype, Terrible service, Asinine System. See photos for goofy ah replies from the owner.

This brand and it's establishments are the living example of just because the queue is long, doesn't mean it's worth the wait. And oh boyyyy lemme tell you.

Let me breakdown my experience, I had a party of 7pax, we had 3 in line at the door and we let the older gent at the door know, he said: "when the table next to you is done we will combine the table for you." Ok, "cool" or so we thought. At this point my other 4 members arrives 2 of which is elderly. So we had some of them sit down first while the youth stood in line and order for the group. Finally hit the counter and do the pleasantries and order food, all is good.... So far.

Okay we finished ordering, some of us sat down while the rest of us awkwardly hover our table looking around and glancing at the table next to us 90percent done with their meal, only one more gulp of Ais Kacang, and one more tissue wipe away from leaving, we hovered and watch the Front of House(Waiter/Busser) scramble to clean up the table. Thinking that the staff would keep their word and do what they said in the 1st place. Instead when we asked and tried to combine, the waiter exclaimed (he did not yell but he did raise his voice). "No no no, we have other people waiting for seat." Before I could argue, they allowed another group that was already seated move the bigger table next to us. Like what the actual heck?

When my mother complained to a waitress, she mumble some incoherent gibberish. And walked off to gossip to cashier lady. When we got our food we could feel the daggers of stares from the cashier and my friend swears she saw the lady shaking her head at us. And when we were halfway done with the food the Busser just swooped in and snatched a plate off our table. My friend, she was startled and later stunned after realizing what happen. Waited half an hour for 3 orders of chicken that showed up after we asked. And they didn’t charge us for that, mistakenly or what I don’t know. Their lost I guess.

Food was okay, but left a sour taste after, because of the overall experience.

Some notes for the Wong's. Don't take peoples reviews and feedback as personal attacks. Expect mine. I hate F&B owners like you, I hate your lack integrity and it shows in your staff members, with the service they produce, I hate your lack of good values, I hate that you play victim when you get a bad...

This is the second time i ate here. First time experienced was the waiter will take away our food before we finish. Seems like they want to ‘chase’ us away because of the waiting crowd. So rude to take someone’s food away like we are eating for free. Second time there today & was extremely unsatisfied with the service. I reached there with my young son earlier as my kid was hungry & i told the guy i want a long table as we have a total of 7 ppl. The guy told me that i cannot combine the table first as my friends are not there yet. That time many tables are still empty. My friends are coming frm KL. Even reach also need time to find parking. I understand they want to serve other customers as well so ok it’s fair not to combine the table first. I proceed to order food. After 15 min, one of my friend arrived. Again i told the guy we need a longer table but the guy still insisted that they will combine the table once my other friends are there. Ok never mind i don’t want to argue & my friend ordered food as well. Once all my other friends has arrived, they queued up to order food & the table next to us was empty as the customers just finished their meals & left so as what the guy said i can combine the table once all my friends are there BUT the guy stopped us frm combining the table saying there is a crowd of customers queuing outside. What is this service?? I already told him TWICE WE NEEDED A LONGER TABLE. So they expect my friends to sit separately far from each other? When we tried to explain, the guy doesn’t even want to understand & instead complained us to a lady at the cashier. She then stared at us angrily mumbling like we are wrong. Two ladies at the counter except one wasn’t friendly. No smiling face. So 7 of us squeezed at a corner table that is suitable for max 5 person. We are paying customers and we ordered quite a lot of food but we are NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE 2 combined tables! Just nonsense! A reminder to this place & the owner. Without customers support your business wouldn’t be so good even though your food are not that superb. I believe the admin of the page or the boss will definitely defend what we experienced & it will show whether they appreciate their customers support. We will never go back again nor...

Originally started as a stall in PJ Old Town serving drinks, beverages and desserts, it has come a long way. Operations are now mainly run by the third generation of two sisters, with the mother casting a watchful eye on operations. The menu is heavily influenced by cold desserts though they do have one or two “healthy” options like kombucha and lohongo. For food they serve asam laksa, tomyam meehoon, fried chicken, nasi lemak and chee cheong fun. The star of the show remains the chendol, abc gula melaka or rose syrup and iced bubur cha cha. The corner lot in Section 17 maximizes space by crowding the tables really close together and also the landing outside the shop. Despite the usual crowd, particularly during lunch times, the queue system is fairly efficient. Service is organized and competent. The lady taking the order politely gives you a quick run down of what is available (if you look like it is your first time there), you order, pay and she gives you the table number. Food is served in quick time, even considering the crowd. We ordered the chendol and ice kacang (with rose syrup) initially, after having just finished lunch. Nevertheless, after seeing and catching the smell of several orders of asam laksa being served to a table next to us, we decided to try that as well! The chendol was really good; shaved ice was fine and soft, almost snow like – testament to using a very sharp blade for shaving the ice block, with generous helpings of gula melaka, coconut milk and chendol. The gula melaka, was the real deal (apparently, they order 400-500 kilos per order, from Melaka each time), thick caramel taste, with a hint of butterscotch and smokiness at the end. The coconut milk was rich and lightly salted, while the chendol had good pandan flavor. Between the two, we both preferred the chendol. The asam laksa was good, plenty of fish meat, with tangy sourish taste of the curry, infused into the rice noodles. Wit the weather being exceptionally hot nowadays, a good place to chill (literally) and have a good...

On the table today is Ais Batu Campur also known to Malaysians as ABC (RM6). This is a favorite of PJ-ians and have evolved into a bigger space. ABC comes with roasted peanuts, cendol, jelly, corn, red beans and cincau on shaved ice. This is swimming in coconut milk and drenched with roasted palm sugar. I felt the cendol or green rice flour jelly was on point. You know when cendol is not on point, it becomes hard with shaved ice. Kwong Wah's version maintains it's texture throughout. The peanuts roasted a bit too much, so there is bitterness to the crunch. You either hate it or love it. At one point, I felt the bitterness too much that it over powered everything else. The other condiments were ok. The coconut milk is not heavy but light which is what you want in either cendol or ABC. The defining feature is the roasted palm sugar or gula Melaka. This is make or break. I found their gula Melaka too toasty, it was either this or the peanuts that had the overpowering bitterness. I'm ok with this but if you are expecting Tau Fu fa type of intense sweetness, you will be disappointed. To me this is what defines kwong wah and judging from the crowd, many like it as well. Lastly, I feel that there the value is in the handmade condiments and not size. So to each, his/her own. Parking is hard at this area, packing will incur RM1 charge for the box. There is a limit to the time that you can spend dining in. Queuing is a must and sitting is for full parties. *NOTE* This is not a paid post; the written content is based on author's personal opinion and preference.
