Plain laziness, and overall lack of caring. We’ve been here before the pandemic. And we loved it, that is until our experience dining in today.
While change is understandable in the long run, me and my family all agree it was more of a deterioration than a positive change. And what a drastic deterioration. We started with onion rings along with burger and fish. Then came our soup.that’s the first issue, the soup came AFTER the mains. Any restaurant should know, soup should be, like appetizers, served before the mains. The worst part, I asked one of the staff if it’s normal for soup to be served after mains, she said, in the most rude way, “yes”. Have they lost all common sense!? At that point why have soup when I can’t enjoy it after having my main?
While this is my main issue there were other “small” details that contributed to my overall bad experience. 1)The salmon was over cooked (dry, solid block, bland) 2) the seafood soup was way too creamy compared to last time, before it was more like a bouillabaisse, now it is essentially a chowder. 3)the sea bass’ skin was soggy, I don’t know if it was crispy in the first place, but covering the skin with cream sauce certainly does not help. 4) I requested for my soup to be split to two bowls for sharing, and yet they refuse to do so, unlike last time when I could ask for a split.
Overall, I’d say that it’s not what it used to be, from a place worth traveling that extra mile to enjoy eating good food, has now become a place that merely feeds you,. I’m overall disappointed as I had good memories of this place, and now those memories have...

Beautiful space with skylight and spiral staircase at the end, little kitschy vintage details of old TVs and stereos as partition deco. We oddly started with the cakes undecided if we wanted to have lunch here. The cakes turned out fantastic and as we watched the kitchen churn out numerous yummy looking plates we decided to try. Picked the full Aussie and soft shell crab pasta, both were good though pasta was better. I'd say come here for the cakes.
Oozing ondeh ondeh cake, so good. The layers of cake was moist and springy. Generous amounts of gula melaka trickled down the sides as we dug in, topped with fresh grated coconut. It had just the right amount of sweetness. Love.
Carrot cake was also a winner but I'd pick ondeh2 over this just coz of the variety in taste profile. This was moist, not dense but chock full of grated carrots and lots of walnuts. It tended to crumble easily which made it harder to eat with the dessert forks provided. Not too sweet.
Creamy tomyum pasta with deep fried softshell crab, good taste wise. Batter could be thinner and lighter on the softshell crab but at least it wasn't oily. Tagliatelle was a tad short which made it hard to pick up.
Scrambled eggs needed salt but fine when eaten together with the sauteed mushrooms and bacon which were really tasty. Chorizo texture was rough and tasted meh. Didn't touch the sourdough as it was too oily.
We ended ordering a whole ondeh-ondeh cake as a birthday cake a few days...
Read moreFood: ... Kinda disappointing. Gnocchi was poorly made. Nothing exciting in the whole menu. Uninspiring.
Coffee: nothing special either. Very meh. They had some interesting items, but they all turned out to be quite bad (shakerato, marble latte)
Cakes: very meh. Tiramisu didn't taste like tiramisu, more like almond walnut cream cake. No coffee flavour nor kahlua inside. Cendol cake doesn't taste of cendol, just pandan and cream. Strawberry shortcake was quite nice, but not great either for the price. At least the cakes were fresh.
Environment: nice ambience. Spacious. A bit dim, but that is nice. Chairs quite uncomfortable.
Service: nothing in particular. Self service mostly. But they don't add service charge, so that is good. No water provided, which is weird considering how much you're paying for the food (our table of 6 spent more than RM 200 total). Max allowable time for dine in is 90 minutes.
We made a reservation. They confirmed the reservation and told us we had a 15 minute grace period. But they didn't keep any reservations for us when we arrived on time. They hastily joined together some tables and seated us there. That is sad.
Verdict: I cannot understand how this cafe is popular, considering they have nothing new or exciting or great to offer. It's not bad per se, but everything just felt very meh. Very lackluster. With the vibrant cafe scene in the neighbourhood, there's nothing that would make me recommend this place. Passable, you won't miss anything if you...
