It's difficult to come up with a conclusive rating as the quality of the dishes vary from dishes to dishes and time to time. My usual go-to's are the Herbal Chicken, Pumpkin Tofu, Ginger Scallion Fish Fillet, Four Heavenly Kings, and Kangkung (Water Convolvulus) Belacan. Often, the Herbal Chicken is very appetizing but there were a few times (just a few times) when the chicken used lacks tenderness. The meat was rough, resulting in the Herbal sauce and spices taking the limelight. Both the spices within the Four Heavenly Kings and Kangkung Belacan are well done, though there is a need to reduce the saltiness. Other than that, I am unhappy with the 梅菜扣肉 (Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables). It tasted as if that dish was all ready to be heated up from some canned product.
In general, the pricing is reasonable, while the overall cleanliness of the place would need some improvement, though this is possibly affected by the food stalls of Golden Kim Wah Restaurant in the afternoon shift. A good 3-stars for Restoran...
Read moreIt was quite crowded and noisy on the Sunday night. The restaurant was non- air conditioned but it was comfortable and not hot that night. Restoran Yau Tak Teng is a “dai chow” (or zi char) restaurant and is opened only at night from 5pm to 11pm. During the day the shop is a coffee shop (Restoran Golden Kim Wah) with many stalls and apparently, the fried koay teow and pork ball noodles are good.
It was easy to order as posters of the popular food were displayed on the wall. We ordered the pumpkin tofu, steamed pak sou koong fish, herbal chicken, sweet and sour pineapple chicken and braised pork rib. Food was above average. Nothing outstanding except for the steamed "pak sou koong" fish which was fresh and came with flavourful soya sauce. Getting a car parking bay was difficult on the...
Read moreCame here for lousang and dinner with friends but got greeted with terrible service by one of the staff. As we came in a big group, there weren't enough plates and glasses served to us so we asked for more, but this staff gave us attitude and mumbled something under her breath which we didn't really mind and looked over. But then one of the plates served to us was a little dirty so we wanted to have it exchanged, we went back to the staff to ask for an exchange but when she got the replacement for the plate she threw it on to the table and said loud enough to not come back here again in cantonese. Apart from that, the food was okay, nothing too special except from the fact that the rice was served to us cold. Overall I do not think my friends and I will be coming...
