The restaurant, now in its 10th year, occupies 2 floors in the now culinary rich island in Damansara Kim. The deco is simplistic, nothing fancy, just functional. The kitchen is at the end of the shop, with a half glass partition and counter-top, so one can watch what all the interactions and going-on in the kitchen. A display of awards won by the restaurant adorn the wall just behind the cashier up front. The place is always a buzz, and reservation is recommended, particularly on weekends. The service staff is top notch, notwithstanding its position as a mid-range set-up. Our table-help for the day, a young lad, admitted he was only in his 3rd month of work but would have put to shame a lot of other staffers in more “up-market” establishments. Adam was not only a great help, guiding us through the menu and helping us with some choices (though we had already read quite a bit of the reviews, so had a fairly good idea of what to order), explaining what ingredients was used, and generally being able to answer questions that we had. Our order for the day was pumpkin hummus (comes with sourdough), paku salad, half fried chicken, half ribs, tiramisu for dessert and a pitcher of lemongrass plus ginger fizz! Other than the hummus which I thought was a disappointment – it was not smooth and did not spread well on the sourdough. There was also a lack of flavor. The other orders, however were sensational! The paku salad was rich, tangy and flavorful. Probably one of the best I have tasted, easily besting the one served in a Thai restaurant a few doors away. The fried chicken (pre-soaked and marinated in lemongrass brine and coated with buckwheat and deep friend) was a dish cooked to perfection! Crispy skin on the outside (not hard), soft and still warm on the insides. Chicken never tasted so good! The pork ribs were another winner. Soft and almost melts in your mouth. The marinate in pineapple glaze had already elevated the taste to such a high level but to add the tamarind dip *comes with a dip) to it, brought it to a dizzying height. The jug of ginger fizz with lemongrass was another surprise. Simple ingredients that combined so well to raise the taste, kind of like saying 1 plus 1 equal 5! ? Was that possible? We finished with a slice of tiramisu. By this time, we were so blown away by what had preceded that it had to finish at a high, and it did! Wonderful taste and so well crafted. We will certainly be back to try the other items on the menu which we are confident, will be also...
Read moreVisited on a Sunday, we had a delightful two-hour dining experience at Table & Apron, enjoying excellent food and service in a cozy atmosphere. Here’s a recap of our visit:
Dishes We Tried: Buckwheat Fried Chicken The skin was exceptionally crispy yet not oily. It wasn't excessively fatty and had the perfect amount of coating.
Duck Confit Casarecce Pasta with Zucchini The cheese flavor was perfectly balanced. The duck was tender and blended harmoniously with the pasta. The duck fat and other ingredients created a flavorful gravy that tasted amazing even after it cooled.
Pork Ribs in Pineapple Glaze The pork ribs had a slightly roasted taste when eaten alone. Adding a squeeze of lime and pairing it with the spice created a unique combination of sour and spicy flavors.
Tiramisu Contained alcohol and had a moist, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Not overly creamy or bitter—just right. The rum and coffee liqueur were well balanced. Heard that it’s a popular item that sells out quickly; we were fortunate to try it during the last slot of the day.
Drinks Earl Grey Tea Fragrant and perfect for aiding digestion after the rich dishes.
Earl Grey Milk Tea Topped with lightly salted cream, which was surprisingly enjoyable even for a non-cream lover. Sweetened with gula melaka, adding a distinct flavor. The tea was served cold (without ice), preserving its full flavor without dilution.
Service Shout-out to Shaun and Ally on the upper level! They were exceptionally friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They also regularly check on us and promptly clear the table. As first-timers, we appreciated their detailed explanations and thoughtful recommendations.

Read moreWe booked a table for 5 adults and 1 child, upon arrival, a member of staff greeted us welcomingly and showed us to our table.
The waiting staff then patiently and enthusiastically explained to us each item that was available on the menu, much to our delight, my daughter-in-law remarked with a joke that maybe the service was a little too good!
To start off with our meal, we ordered the Paku Salad along with the seasonal Confit Duck Salad.
The Paku Salad was a perfect fusion of sweet, spicy and sour notes using an Asian inspired vinaigrette along which coats the Paku vegetables and tomato well.
The confit Duck Salad was good, the earthy green taste of the leaves contrasts really well with the smokey flavours of the confit duck.
We also had another vegetable / keto dish which was a Roasted Cauliflower salad. The cauliflower was roasted / cooked nicely and placed on a bed of a light cheese sauce, which made it tangy and savoury.
For the mains, we ordered a variety of sharing platters which consists of their signature Buckwheat Flour fried chicken (6 pcs), their Pineapple Laced Pork Ribs, Pork Chop and Wagyu Flank Steak. Not forgetting the Ulam Herb Rice.
The fried chicken was definitely one of the best out there, it doesn't try to be pretentious, it doesn't try to be fully coated and over-battered, it's just honest to god, great, perfect fried chicken. Juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, what more can one ask for a fried chicken?
The pork ribs was great, tad bit tangy on the outside and the marinade cuts through the juicy and lardy pork flesh.
The steak was done absolutely spot-on to the requested temperature of medium-rare, the chimichurri sauce pairs really well with it and really well made all in all.
The Ulam Herb Rice made me think that maybe it was inspired by the Hakka Dish of "Thunder Tea" Rice, Full of herbs and greenery, when mixed with the provided Ulam Sauce, made it superbly delightful to eat. We were all grabbing second servings.
All in all, it was a really lovely and wonderful experience to have dined in Table and Apron. The Food was tremendously delicious, the staff were charismatic and friendly, and the atmosphere was reminiscent of a lovely dining setting where friends and family all come together to catch up during a meal.
I absolutely must recommend this place to try, as I will definitely return here to dine again...
