This counter in the IPC Food Court is located nearer to the IKEA end of the food court. Serving hot bows of rice, udon, soba with your choice of toppings, it's a good way to get a quick Japanese fix for a meal.
I visited during a weekday, off peak hour, so seating was easily available. During peak lunch time hours it's almost impossible to get a place, and you'll end up sharing a table with others if you're lucky.
The choices are quite varied here, but basically you're choosing between a rice or noodle bowl. Everything else is just the toppings that you put on top of your choice of carbs. The ubiquitous beef slices, or chicken katsu and others make up the different combinations that you can order.
I had the Osaka Okonomiyaki Yakiniku Don and was given a buzzer in case I sat away from the counter. The buzzer rang within 4 minutes after ordering, and that was pretty fast.
The food was not bad, actually. I found the egg perfectly cooked - with a runny white and yolk that covers your rice and flavours it. The. beef was well cooked, a little bordering on the sweet side. The additional bonito flakes on top of the rice was to give the Okonomiyaki feel to the bowl.
All-in-all, it was a good meal. Quick, easy and...
Read moreEdit review: Gave 5 star before how flexible we can walk in and arrange the reservation timing but have to changed the rating to 1 star only as yesterday we went at around 8pm and they don't allow us to come in as they say they already close for walk in since 7.30pm. Apparently it applies to all outlet nowadays. They didn't mention this new policy in their website, we can't reach them via call before coming and the notice in front of the shop said 8pm closed for walk in. When I arrived there is empty table as a group of customer just left after but they don't bother to clean the table and still did not allow us to sit in. It was just around 8pm. We came from far to have a good dinner together and we were just left hanging there. Very bad service. Very disappointed. Please improve.
Original: Better to come here then pavilion and putrajaya branch as it less people and table layout is better. Came here twice this month only. Quite addicted if you love steamboat. Best to enjoy with family and friends. Best meat is lamb. My favourite soup is sukiyaki and kimuchi for best taste. For sauces, mix up the sauces in one bowl and adjust them to your liking. Don't forget to take the raw egg too as dipping so you won't burn...
Read moreMy recent experience was the worst so far. My family and I was very very disappointed with the service especially. It wasn’t our first nor second time. In fact we were a regular there. The staffs were not welcoming especially the manager, I stood there for almost 15 minutes when the outlet wasnt even that busy, but he refused to make eye contact with me. But I kept waited, as I was trying to be understanding. Then people started queuing behind me even though the outlet was not packed, he came to the line and told everyone else to go to the new outlet at the curve. Ignoring me in front. I understand he was trying to promote the newly opened outlet, but we are still entitled to dine in at IPC outlet, regardless. The whole dinner was not pleasant and too many inconveniences caused, overall I wasn’t able to just tolerate or “close an eye” . In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend going to this outlet, as it will ruin Sukiya’s reputation. Other outlets are definitely a better choice. With that said, I personally wouldn’t visit this...
