Topspot Seafood Ah Hock, located on the top floor of the UTC building, proved to be a memorable dining experience for me and my colleagues during a business trip. With about 10 of us, we embarked on our culinary adventure one evening upon our arrival in Kuching.
Upon our arrival at around 8:00 PM, the restaurant was abuzz with activity. This dining venue is unique in that it houses multiple smaller seafood restaurants within, and patrons can choose from these options. Typically, I would frequent the last one at the corner, but it was fully occupied that night. Fortunately, we spotted an empty table that could accommodate our group of 10 at Seafood Ah Hock, marked as restaurant number 18, and it was Halal-certified.
Our order comprised various delectable dishes, although the standout of the evening was the midin goreng belacan. It earned unanimous approval from our group, emerging as the star of the meal, while the other dishes delivered a more average dining experience.
One notable aspect of Topspot Seafood Ah Hock is its affordability. In comparison to other restaurants in the vicinity, the prices were quite reasonable, making it an attractive option for those seeking delicious seafood without breaking the bank.
The location is convenient and accessible via an elevator in the UTC building. However, it's essential to be prepared for the hustle and bustle and the scent of cooking that permeates the space. I chose the pickup option specifically to save time during the busy festive season. Instead, I was told I had to wait indefinitely for them to cook the correct order. This completely defeats the purpose of using Grab — I might as well have just dined in or ordered directly at the restaurant. They pestered me to cancel my order but eventually gave in due to their own mistake.
