Dan Dan Hunan BBQ 丹丹湘菜烧烤云顶 — Restaurant in Selangor

I am not kidding, once you've tasted authentic Chinese food(the ones China locals eat in China), you'll always want to come back to this noisy, cold, disorganised, a little unclean place to have your cravings for china chinese food filled. Nestled in the workers/employee quarters hidden behind Genting Grand Hotel, it is hard to secure parking, the road is uneven, gravel-like and cold and unwelcoming. But workers and their China employers, contractors and even Genting employees will come down here. Why? Authentic Chinese Hunan Food. Not oily, imported ingredients and flavors from China, and a Chinese chef who doesn't give two hoots to catering to local malaysian chinese palates. Reasonably priced and a homey feeling amongst spitting and loud-talking uncouth people eating there. Menu is almost fully in chinese and the waiter doesnt speak any either language or dialect other than Putong-Hua. Orders come promptly and you can have as much rice as you can fill your tummy on. I wouldn't complain of stuffiness because it is cold outside (between 20-23 degrees celcius). Open the windows on your own if you need cold air swishing pass you. Read the Xiao Hong shu and many ppl highly recommend this restaurant as hidden Jem in genting, but I would like to say kuchai lama hunan food is much more better than here or maybe I am unlucky person only to those who said their food is delicious. Seriously I am very very disappointed with all the food cooked.

手撕包菜- many ppl recommend it but the cabbage had awful taste and we suspect is from the oil.

辣子鸡 - average only and De hunan at kuchai lama taste much more better than this.

糍粑 - not recommended, taste not like authentic 糍粑

BBq scallop - you can see from the photo it is overcook and burned until all the vermicelli stick on the shell only

pork belly, overall ok just abit burned on the top so it will taste bitter

aubergines - tasteless

vermicelli - very waterly and no taste, not recommend

chicken wings - order 3 but just come 1 due to out of stock but we feel lucky they only come one, same issue burned.

patatoes -didn’t cook well, inside still raw.

No doubt this is THE BEST CHINA FOOD in Malaysia. I’ve tried so many so called “authentic” China restaurants in KL, Ipoh and Penang but non was as excellent as this place right here in genting. No fuss, straight up fast paced orders, small, cramped tables just like in China local restaurants. It makes chatting and making friends so much easier.

When i first tasted their food, i almost cried because it reminded me exactly of the dishes i tasted in mainland. From the oil, chillies, bean spices and meat used, everything was in perfection and absolutely resulted in original local village dish taste, balanced and flavorful.

The lady boss and the boy staffs were very welcoming and friendly. They really made sure i was taken care from the beginning of order till i left the restaurant. Even gave me plastics to cover my phone and head when it was raining heavily outside. These sort of care and kindness can only come from them. Humbly appreciate them much for feeding me good food.
