My family and I had Q-up for 1 hour to get inside to have our brunch. We order a few foods but all the food we tried actually just normal it is not as good as expectation.
For all the foods we ordered, we rated the higher score is the fried bihun and the fried chicken. The fried bihun evenly fragrance and soy sauce, eat with the sambal it quite nice. And the fried chicken is juicy and I like the crispy herb which serve along the chicken. We rated 4 stars only for the bihun, because we tried some else the bihun is better because it is more springy and the taste more absorbed into the bihun, however oriental kopi lack of these.
The top 2 food is the curry laksa noodle, some of us like it but some don't like it... Like it because the soup is a bit thick of curry taste, and full of prawn taste in the soup based, therefore for people like prawn taste definitely will love their curry laksa. But for me I don't like the strong prawn taste because it doesn't match well with the taste of coconut milk. Furthermore the noodle they use is those normal yellow noodle, when they serve the noodle maybe the noodle wasn't go throught the hot water therefore the bowl of curry laksa have the smell and taste of Sodium karbonat which they using it put into the yellow noodle processing. As overall the curry laksa is rated as 3 stars only.
The polo bun is only 1 stars because we really disappointed the butter was serve a side which we like the butter is place inside the bun and will slowly melt inside. The top layer look like cookies on top the polo bun don't have any fragrance and taste. So the whole polo bun taste basically is depend on the butter you place inside or the condenses milk. So the polo bun really not worth to try.
Same to the egg tart we rated 1 star, don't have fragrance just sweet. The worse when we eat the egg tart some of the skin layer are not well cooked. So seriously disappointed. I think walk a cross the road get from another shop that will be nicer.
The rice cake is only rate 1 star, the rice cake is really depend on the sauces and the paste serve on top. The sauce is too sweet just like sweet syrup, don't have fragrance for the sauce. The paste just like normal salted vege or pickled vege bring the taste of salty. Overall doesn't make rice cake taste better. I had try other places have better paste, the picked vege was fry with dried shrimp plus the sweet sauce bring some salty and sesame fragrance. Well this is only my personal preference.
The Rojak we rated 2 star because the mixture of fruits is not balance given too much cucumber, it is like a cucumber + Rojak sauce only. The rojak sauce also a bit sweet don't have spicy taste which we use to eat have sweet and spicy.
The most most most disappointing is the coffee. Fragrance and taste was toned down by the ice serving together, the opposite food truck selling coffee also better their coffee, we rated 1 star only.
For all of these we really think it is not worth to...

I have been a loyal customer of Oriental Kopitiam since its early days. Over the years, the food quality has remained almost consistently above average — a rare feat in the competitive kopitiam scene. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the service, which has deteriorated from bad to worse.
This morning’s visit was particularly disappointing. I ordered my usual value breakfast set — kaya toast with soft-boiled eggs and kopi — at 9:22 AM. The kopi and other items from my order arrived in about 15 minutes, but there was no sign of the toast. After nearly 30 minutes, and two follow-ups with the staff, the toast was still missing. Frustrated, I cancelled the toast and switched to mee hoon, hoping for quicker service. That replacement took another 10 minutes.
As a regular customer, I must point out several critical flaws in the service flow with repeated patterns:
SOP Not Followed – Food arrived without cutlery or the order chit, requiring me to prompt the staff.
No Order Confirmation – The order was never re-confirmed before check out/before payment, increasing the chance of oversight.
Zero Customer Engagement – No greetings, no apologies for delays, and no visible accountability for pending items.
No Recovery Efforts – In the F&B industry, service mishaps are common but often cushioned with a goodwill gesture, such as a complimentary drink. None was offered here.
Lack of Management Presence – The branch manager was absent, leaving no avenue for immediate feedback.
For me, personal touches and interpersonal skills are as important as the food. The staff seemed to be operating like robots — executing tasks without meaningful communication or customer care. Ironically, even AI systems can follow SOPs with greater precision and consistency.
While Oriental Kopitiam’s kitchen still delivers on taste, the front-of-house experience has become its Achilles’ heel. Without urgent attention to service quality, this once-reliable spot risks losing its loyal...
Read moreTried this restaurant for the first time. Their menu is so extensive I had to spend some time flipping through it before settling on the following items:
Ipoh shredded chicken hor fun. It came with two big prawns and that was a nice touch. Nowadays it's like every other restaurant of this type is offering the much loved Ipoh shredded chicken hor fun. But is it any good? The soup is fine but not as good as the one by Memories Taste at Puchong Jaya. Memories Taste still has the best Ipoh shredded chicken hor fun in Puchong. The only advantage Oriental Kopi has over Memories Taste is that two big prawns. But this comes at a price of course. Fried beehoon with ayam goreng berempah. The beehoon didn't look like much as it's white in appearance but don't let that deceive you. It does have a flavor to it reminding me of the kind of Malay style fried beehoon that I used to have. The fried chicken is obviously pre-fried but the taste is still there and the meat is not dry. Overall I quite like this dish. Chwee Kueh This is a disaster. They're quite small, quite dry and just taste sweet with the preserved turnip. There is absolutely no character to it. One dimensional in taste. Even the sambal that came with it was unnecessarily sweet. Sour plum with lemon and lime in soda on a bed of ice. I was not aware that it was actually sour plum in soda. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. Egg tarts It was a takeaway and I haven't got round to eating them yet. So no comments yet.
Not exactly cheap for this kind of restaurant. Will I come back? Yes I would as I am still curious about the many other dishes that they have in their extensive menu. First of all, I have not tried their kopi yet. And also...
