1st time trying this branch having been to the Sri Petaling outlet several times before. It was a rainy night so it was person for steamboat. First thing you notice when you walked in is that the ambience and decorations are much better than the Sri Petaling outlet (you would you the word "basic" and "old-school" there) as well as being much more spacious. Ordered a different bunch of things and was promptly served. Ordered the must have pork bone broth and tried the century egg broth out of curiosity. Basically both are the same broth but the century egg broth had you guessed it; century egg and plenty of coriander whilst the pork bone broth had the usual daikon radish, carrot, dates and goji berry. Both were good. Noticed there weren't any chopped garlic, green onion and coriander so ordered it from the waiter who promptly served it.
Ordered the usuals pork & beef slices, homemade mushroom pork ball, dumpling, prawn wantan, veggies and mushroom. All were on point especially the homemade selections which has maintained the same high standard as Sri Petaling branch. All the staffs here are foreigners except the captain but they are as if not more competent than the staffs at Sri Petaling.
All in all it met and even slightly exceeded my expectations. Plus points includes plenty of parking nearby and was able to get a table on a Saturday night without reservation. This is officially my preferred Harbour Steamboat branch as well as go-to steamboat place whenever I crave for some soupy goodness on a rainy...
Read moreI have been coming here for their pork noodles for years (btw, pork noodles for lunch only, steam boat & BBQ for dinner only). The soup was rich in flavour and the portion of pork slices, minced pork and their special pork balls are generous enough. But above these are their special chilis sauce which really brings out the sweats in me. Not that it's very spicy but something inside their recipe just did it for me. There has since been a change of ownership, a poorly received price increase and then a welcomed price reduction again. But I noticed the soup is slightly milder now and the portion of meats are also smaller. It still makes for a hearty lunch and it's still one of my favourite pork noodles place for me. There are more items on the menu too. I have tried the fish head noodle which is served with generous amounts of fish meat but is only average in taste. The claypot loh ahu fun is flavourful and the right amount of moist. Service is good too with pro active workers...
Read moreI have eaten here many times for their steamboat. I always know this place is expensive. Usually their herbal soup and pork bone soup is ok and today i am sick so craving for herbal soup. But today the soup for both is tasteless. And certainly not because i am sick because my husband felt the same about the taste. And be careful if you cant read chinese like me. I ordered normal beef rm 15 and normal pork slices rm12. The waitress asked whthr want thin or thick. Little that i know i will be charged premium if chose thin. I was not informed that i will be charged premium beef became rm 20 and pork became rm 18 which is atrocious as i never want the premium at the first place. I thought premium means better grade of meat and not thinness of the slices. After today experience i am not returning. Rm 109 for 2 pax. For 1 plate of beef 1 plate pork 1 plate fish rm 15 1 plate chicken n 5 pieces dumpling. Soup is rm 20. 10% service and 6% tax. Next time i will go next door...
