Black Gold Saloon — Restaurant in Sliema

We visited Black Gold Saloon on a Friday evening and found the vibe quite interesting. The music was great, and the place was bustling with a lively crowd.

We went for some food and drinks, and while the experience was nice overall, it had its ups and downs. The service was initially slow but improved as more staff became available.

For appetizers, we tried the onion rings, chicken wings, and garlic bread. All of them were quite good, though the chicken wings were a bit too oily and had a noticeable oil smell. For the main course, we opted for the Vegan burger, which was disappointing. It was served without any sauce and consisted of just a bun, patty, tomato, and salad. Having had much better Vegan burgers elsewhere, this one fell short of expectations. Additionally, we were disappointed to find that they didn’t offer a Pork burger.

This place has been great for years . Great service , great value and good fun. They have bands sometimes too. Always busy and closes late. I think it's been around for more then 30 years . we'll I went there 30 years ago. Also many other bars and restaurants near each other. Also very good. Very safe and easy going. The crowd is mixed , which means its appeals to every one . Enjoy 😉 . I will take a pic next time . They have outside area , inside area and also a more relax area. We went a few times here as it was close to our hotel.

The first evening we made the mistake of sitting at a table inside with bench seating. We moved 3 times to a different table because the seats are the worst we have ever come across. They all slope forward and there's no depth to the seated plinth.

For our next visits, we sat in the covered outside area which was much more comfortable and we could watch people passing by.

One night we ordered a pizza, which came quickly and was served hot. All good stuff.

On Saturday evening we sat on stools at the bar inside to see the live band, Roxanna who were excellent with a great playlist.
