What can I say, the best food experience while living in Malta for more than 2 years.
The food is simply unbelievable. It’s beautiful and refined yet has so much Soul and Heart in it. It’s like elevated and beautifully presented homely comfort food. MAGICAL.
We tried their rabbit stew (comes inside a round traditional Maltese bread). It’s really nice for cold/windy days because the bread keeps the stew hot even when you’re dining outside. The bread is crusty on the outside but the inside soaks up the delicious sauce (super love the idea that not a drop of the YUMMY sauce is left on the plate). My toddler daughter never eats unblended meat but she gobbled up the tender rabbit meat like a little monster. 😆 even the carrot purée that came on the side, SO GOOD!
We also tried their Home made Ravioli, (they have Ravioli with different fillings)The texture of the ravioli skin was OUT OF THIS WORLD. They also give very helpful suggestions while serving, for example, which dish to eat first, which side purée goes well with which ravioli, etc.
Their carrot cake was so moist and delicious as well, and they even added a nice candle and a birthday song upon knowing that we were there for a birthday.
It was the first time we tried their food but we have come here many times before for drinks or coffee and we have always been greeted with extra special kindness and professional service by the two owners. I don’t want to say ‘professional service’ because that would be an understatement. Their service is done with lots of heart, love, and genuine kindness. We usually go there with our toddler and they are so attentive every time, asking if we would need a high chair, giving our toddler some extra nibbles to munch on while waiting for our order, bringing us blankets to keep warm, etc.
Their interior decoration is super cool, they have outdoor seating both on the ground floor and the rooftop, and also indoor seating on the middle floor. Everything is so tastefully decorated with art and paintings, and is so super cozy. Even their menu book is so artistically designed, it reminds you of a souvenir from an art museum.
P.S. if you are in Rabat, DO NOT miss out on this hidden gem. And if you’re there on a hot sunny day, don’t even think twice, close your eyes and get a glass of their homemade ice tea. All curing...
Read moreWithout a doubt one of the best if not the best restaurant on the island. The food, atmosphere and the service were all just out of this world.
Lets start with the food, I ordered the rabbit stew in a bread bowl. As I was the first customer of the evening I could smell them making my dish, which was already very promising. It was ready really quickly and what I got served was Delicious. My favourite feature of the dish was how the bread took in all the juice of the stew and thus the flavour but kept its crunchy outside, seriously liked this even more than the meat which was also very tasty. It has to be said that the dish was very affordable too (and so was everything else) as the bread bowl was huge with lots or rabbit stew inside, and it had a salad on the side. would also recommend trying their pistachio espresso, where they put pistachio creme on the rim of the cup and then put the espresso in, a very delicious combination!
Then, the Atmosphere. It's like you go back to the 50s highlife , from the music, to the cigar bar and the use of old lamps for lighting. Great use of props and displaying their artisan goods all over the restaurant also helped to make the place look lively. This all together created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere which further enhanced the experience.
Then the staff, my waiter was such a friendly man who enthusiastically explained what his restaurant had to offer, he had a clear passion for the place! He made sure all my wishes were met and was always down for a quick chat. I also had a great conversation with the lovely owner where he explained how he cared more for quality than quantity, and thus he said that he does not put out extra tables in high season. This definitely explains their high rating as clearly they care more about giving customers a great culinary experience than making more money, which is admirable for sure!
Basically, it doesn't really get better than a place like this, should get 6 stars! I will 100% be back when I return to Malta and I will recommend any one who visits Malta to go here. Thank you for the great experience and...
Read moreThis was seriously the best dinning experience and I'm not exaggerating. I highly suggest this if you fancy a place with its own soul and feel, it's not a cookie cutter posh place, but more of a hidden gem in a side alley. We were eating on the rooftop around sunset and the atmosphere was fantastic. We were lead upstairs by a staff member who then introduced us to the menu and gave their own recommendations and comments on some of the dishes. The home made ice tea is the best ice tea I've ever had, and big shout-out to the staff for sharing the recipe with us. Stew was served in a large, almost head sized, carved out bun and was delicious. It came together with a very interesting and tasty salad, and it was hard to eat it all. So in short, the atmosphere was unique and lovely, the food was amazing and came in large portions, and the staff was very lovely and kind. It seems like they had a vision of what the place should be (and have executed it very, very well), and have a lot of passion and love for what they do. It was an unforgettable evening....
